In this country we have to go through a process very much like the SBR or suppressor process in the 'States just to own the firearm.

Once we do we can suppress and SBR it without any hinderance.

So I applied for my paperwork two months ago, being told the average wait is around 1 month. I went past the cop shop on Friday to find out how things are going and where it is, AND THE PAPERWORK HASN'T EVEN LEFT THE LOCAL POLICE STATION!

Here I was planning on using it in a shoot on 1 December and the paperwork hasn't moved off the desk I dropped it off on two months ago.

Colour me unimpressed.

That sucks, but those rules are really awesome as far as what you can do once your approved for a firearm. Where are you from? Do you have to be approved for each firearm, or just for the right to own firearms? Interesting learning how other countries handle the process.

South Africa.

Both. You need to be "competent" to own a firearm, sitting a written theory and a practical test. This is for each type of firearm. Self loading rifle, manual rifle (bolt, lever, pump...), pistol and shotgun. The pistol can be a semi or a revolver, the shotgun can be a side by side, over under, pump or semi.

It is almost as if they randomly split the classes up. Once you have it you have it forever. Those never go away.

Then each firearm is individually lisenced. So the 15-22 needs paperwork, the Saiga needs paperwork, the Colt .22 needs paperwork, my Glock and 1911 need paperwork......

This is just the latest series of purchases, but two months one one desk?!

Maybe consider a move up north I was is in uganda/sudan last year not many laws up that way and it was about $50 for an ak or $250 for a hkg36 off a stall similar to a fruit stand. On a serious note I'm sorry to hear your having a delay and hope things get sorted soon for you .

That sucks. lol now i feel bad for being ansy when waiting 5 minutes or less for my background check to come back. The Good thing is my GS owner is cool and he will let me handle the firearm while he is calling and getting the ok from the FBI (Thats who they call right, to do the background?).

Ahhhh The Freedom of Arizona:D All the states should be so nice!!! Sorry to hear about the B.S. I walked in payed the man walked out en-route to the desert behind my house and was shooting away.

Having a valid CCW permit does most certainly make the process easier and quicker...

Does anybody happen to know if having a CCW makes any
difference in Oklahoma?

Thanks!

I don't know for sure, but most states wave any waiting period for permit holders. Makes it nice here in Connecticut. I can be in and out in 20 minutes, or so.

your wait time is completely unreasonable. But ALL governments maintain ever increasing control over their populations.

until WE exercise our rights collectively...nothing will change
