Pretty peeved at the moment.
Been wanting to pick up 15-22 for my boy. He's been shooting his Ruger that we have "tacticaled" out, but he prefers my 15-22.
So I finally found one in stock at a local WM. As today was my wife's birthday and we had birthday activities planed, I couldn't get the the WM until later this evening.
Well I arrive at the WM, and there it was in the display case. Beams of golden light emanating from it like Thor's Hammer! I was besides myself with excitement!
So I hunt down a WM associate, explain my disire to purchase the 15-22, and start the back ground check.
About a third of the way through, the associate stops me and states that their is a card attached to the weapon and there is a hand written note saying, "pending"?
He calls over a manager and shows him the note. The manager states that the weapon "might" be sold, they "might" just be waiting for the other persons back ground check to clear?
I was like WTH?
He then stated that sometimes the background checks can take a few days?
They must be waiting for it to clear before completeing the sale. I explained that I have purchased mutiple firearms over the years and several in just the last few months.
Even at the hight of the AR buying frenzy, it had never taken more that 40 minutes?
I asked, if the firearm is sold pending a back ground check, why is it still on the display rack, with the for sale tag attached and not in storage in the back?
They couldn't provide an answer.
I asked that if indeed they were waiting on the background check to be completed and it didn't go through, what the procedure was so that as next in line, I would be allowed to purchase the firearm. The manager stated that I would have to hope that I was there if or when the background came in.
If it didn't go through and I was there, I would then be allowed to buy it. If it didn't go through, I wasn't there and someone else was and wanted it, they would get it.
Needless to say, I feel like I got screwed!
Not a happy camper at the moment.
