Should I sell my newly acquired ATI 1911 45 acp to buy a model 19-3 for $505.00? i'm not sure what to do.

That's a question no one here can answer. Depends entirely on which one you like better.

A little more info on the 19-3 might be helpful. I can tell you that, at least in CA. the $505 price on a good clean 19-3 is reasonable. Personally I would be reluctant to unload ANY newly acquired weapon until I had a chance to wring it out and see how I liked it.

Can't tell you what to do with the ATI but will heartily endorse the 19-3 for $505 if it is in at all good condition. Haven't seen one for quite awhile that wasn't worth at least $500. Pictures please when you get it. Good luck.

Buy the 19-3, keep the ATI if you can. If you can't you can always pick one up later. P/R Model 19s don't come along every day especially at that price.

option 1) Put the 19 on lay-a-way! pay it off as fast as possible, keep the 45 or you'll take a bath (lose money).

Option 2) do what ever you want, nobody else listens to me!

Sell the ATI and buy the 19-3! Filipino cast frame 1911s will be cheap and plentiful for a long time and most likely never collectable. You can always replace it whenever you like.

It might help if you mentioned your intended use of these guns and what experience you have with each platform, as these guns are very different as far as handguns go.

Are you going to use these for home defense? Concealed carry? Target shooting? An investment?

As for which one to keep, that's easy - get both!

Tough question sir. Been there many times with many different guns. Do what your gut says. Just understand that you will regret some of those decisions. Ask me how I know.

Do you spend time away from the house on business trips? If so, then you can tell the wife that the 19-3 is for her for self-protection in the house while you are away. Loaded with some defensive load 38 Specials, it's something that your wife can easily control. That's one way to sell her on the buy

I have several 1911's, a 19-3 and a 19-6. I shoot them all. I think I like the 6" 19-6 better than any of them but a guy has to have a 1911. I bought my first one when I was about 60. Now I know why everyone should have at least one.

As a 1911 carry person i would keep the 1911 and find a way to get the 19-3 also. I like my revolvers I am a 686 fan.

Condition is the key to this deal. If the timing is correct and everything locks up tight take the leap! That's a very good price. Good 19s are getting harder to find but ATI 1911s should be available for a long time to come.

As others have said, try to keep them both. If the 19-3 is at a gun shop, can you put it on layaway?

The ATI is a current production gun, so you are going to be competing against new guns, and I've seen new ones in shops around here for $400, more or less. You'd probably be lucky to get $300 for your gun, depending on condition. You didn't say what condition the 19-3 is in, or what barrel length. They aren't making any more of them, so that's not a bad price as long as it's in reasonably good shape, cosmetically and mechanically (if you aren't experienced with revolvers, there are videos on YouTube which can show you how to check mechanical function.)

If I were you I'd do my best to keep the ATI and still get the M19. If that isn't possible and I could sell the ATI without loosing a lot on it and buy the M19, I'd do it - for one reason.

They are still making the ATI 45's and you can get another one any time. The M19-3 isn't being made any more, isn't going to be made any more, and if it is in good condition will not only hold its value but appreciate in value

Ditto - if you can't have both, this is what I'd do and for this exact reason.

You say nothing about the condition of the 19-3. K frame 357s don't
hold up well to heavy usage. What is your intended use for either gun?
Two quite different guns. Need more information to really give good
advise.
