We in Arizona are watching Gov. Ducey's office today like hawks. It is being reported that he will introduce some form of "gun legislation" today and we expect it's not going to be favorable since it's cloaked in secrecy.
If anyone finds out anything specific please post it here so we can mount opposition ASAP if it's unfavorable to our 2nd Amendment rights.

I wouldn't get worked up over it. Governor Ducey's "plan", if you can call it that, revolves around the "individual" and "school safety". It's a "look at me, I'm doing something", political side-show.

It is a reminder however that a 2A friendly legislature, at the state and federal level, is always much more important than a 2A friendly Executive Branch. Vote wisely for your representatives.

Gov. Doug Ducey Introduces Plan To Address School Safety Issues

"The governor said the priorities he has heard included increased mental and behavioral health resources at schools, restricted access to weapons for those who pose a danger to themselves or others, cracking down on illegally-possessed weapons, increased school resource officer presence at schools and enhanced background checks.

In the overwhelming majority of the deadliest mass shootings in the last 20 years, the shooter exhibited obvious signs of being a threat,” he added. “Why not have laws and a process to restrict these individuals from possessing or obtaining guns?”

Ducey ended the series of tweets by calling for a “centralized tip line to report – and actually investigate – concerns of school safety so they don’t fall through the cracks” and more “funding and enhanced training for school resource officers.”

Here's what I was able to find in his apparent tweets:

Respecting the #2A rights of law-abiding Americans, while enforcing our laws on the books
✅ Increased school resource officer and law enforcement presence at schools
✅ Closing loopholes
✅ Enhanced background checks

My concerns here are the old McCain exaggerations about "loopholes" which usually include more gun show restrictions. It has been shown multiple times in studies that criminals don't buy guns at gun shows.

"Enhanced" background checks is a real goal the antis have been after for a long time with ultimately registration any time a firearm changes hands. They know full well that to seize all firearms which is their ultimate goal requires that the authorities know where and who has firearms.

IF mandatory background checks come to pass, I wonder about getting an FFL and doing nothing but background checks for private transfers.

Sounds like a plan---if you anticipate those of us who routinely obey firearm laws will continue to do so. That's what I wonder about. I hadn't wondered about it very long when I decided it seems unlikely. I reckon we shall see what we shall see. And right after that will be when it hits the fan.

That's exactly right, imho. The laws & intrusions are at a point where many people are obeying those laws that are easy to obey, and ignoring the rest as overly burdensome & onerous. I doubt very much that the feds have either the manpower or willpower to engage in any sort of mass confiscation. It would have to rely on an Australia-style, good-faith of the citizens type of effort. Look at Connecticut.....

A mass confiscation would undoubtedly be accomplished with the aid of the National Guard, Army Reserve, regular Army, just to name the obvious.
It would be a vastly different world from the one we know. God help us that it never comes to that!

If it does, people are gonna get hurt...guarantee it. Once that starts to happen, I feel the confiscation effort will start to loose steam quickly. JMHO.
