Yes it does packin-heat. I have the Traverlers guide firearms laws of all fifty states. It has the recognition and reciprocity laws in the back.

Yes, GA is one of the states that recognizes FL permits.

Why did it take months to get your CCW from FL? Those I know with FL non resident permits got them in a couple weeks. Many of the instructors in Louisiana is suggesting getting a non resident FL permit due to the faster turn around time.

If I recall, you can't use an out-of-state license under reciprocity if you are a Georgia resident.

I'm thinking if you become a full time resident, car registration, drivers license, utilities, etc., it will void your gun permit issued by your previous state of residence. This is probably a certainty. So be careful.

The FL permit is valid as long as you do not establish residency in GA.

Once you become a GA resident, then you must obtain a GA permit to carry legally. No exceptions. The only permit recognized for a GA resident is the GFL.

The good news is that the GFL application process is relatively painless, and now takes a lot less time than it used to thanks to the new electronic fingerprinting.

I recently renewed mine, and this time I had my new permit in about two weeks as opposed to almost three months last time.

Go to Handgunlaw.us and then to whatever state you are interested in for the state laws. Here is what is on the Georgia site :

Permits/Licenses This State Honors
Alabama Alaska Arkansas Arizona Colorado
Florida, Idaho Indiana Kentucky Louisiana
Michigan Mississippi Missouri Montana New Hampshire
North Carolina North Dakota Oklahoma Pennsylvania South Dakota
Tennessee Texas Utah Wyoming.
Georgia Honors Non-Resident Permits/Licenses

Welcome aboard, (to Georgia) once you get an address, a bill or two, your drivers license-- just go to your county's office and apply for the Carry permit. It is a 2-3 week turn around if not sooner. Got mine in 2 days when I first moved here-course that was pre 911.

Just moved here from Washington state in April. Army so didn't need a GA DL to get mine. Waited for my wife's DL to come in then we went down together. Clayton County took 2 weeks to get ours. Have a FL non resident also. Figure it covers me in most southern states, except SC.
