I was browsing online one of my local gun shops and found this rare find. A we'll kept S&W 3954. Yes, I know it isn't overly collectable but it is in great shape, carried a little, shot a little but not much wear. It came with a nice G&G high ride holster, 2 8rd magazines, 1 7 round, the original box, all original documents, and even the S&W paper. Plus from what I read only around 1000 were produced. The trigger is one of the best DAO triggers I've ever felt and breaks clean at around 6 lbs. It will be shot a lot tomorrow.

Grand total...$300

I looked at both the M&P9c and the Shield while I was there and it occurred to me that Smith and Wesson had it right with models like this to begin with. This thing will last a lot longer than either of those will.

Congratulations on a fantastic find. Never thought anyone would beat my $275 3954, but you've done it handily. Mine came with nothing but a shadow, not that I'm complaining. The Travelling Trophy is headed your way.

Thanks. It is a surprisingly thin pistol. Well made, great trigger. IMO it far surpasses the Shield. And for what I paid, it was a no brainer.

That is insane beyond words!!!

I probably would have hurt my arm or worse getting my wallet up and out of my back pocket in .002 seconds (or less). :D And I'm not even a blued 3rd Gen guy!

What shop was crazy enough to put a $300 price tag on a work of art like that??? I want to shop there!!! :p

I took it to the range today. If it were a revolver it would be similar to a well broken in Model 10. It was ridiculously accurate and I was able to unload a full mag into the X-Ring in under 2 seconds. Wow was it accurate.

After a few days of CCW, I am really liking this more and more. In one of the above pictures I noticed that like mine the slide release is flat to make the pistol thinner unlike the Stainless version beside it. This is a very comfortable CCW pistol. It feeds anything although the only 9mm round I will carry is the Federal 9BPLE +P+. I've never found anything better and that round has a proven track record. As good as this trigger is I am surprised that this model did not catch on. I wish I could find some Ameriglo iDot Pro sights for it, but I'll find something. This one is a keeper.

Interesting observation,......you've got a fine eye. I never noticed that before. I've checked four 3953s and none of them have the slimmed down slide release, yet. Nice thing about stainless is that it's so easy to modify without harming the finish. I'll keep this in mind and make changes if I ever notice it as a problem.

Nice find at a great price!!!! I have 4 of them. 3 are of the TJAxxx serial numbers (first 440 production run).
