Spent more money at a gun show this weekend than I have in the last 5 years combined. Had a shakey start to the year and haven't bought anything since my 629 last fall. Found a Colt model M 1903 at a decent price that we were both happy with. I have been in the market for one for a couple years and the new manufactured ones seem to have drug the prices of the vintage ones up along with them. The Colt seemed to have set something off in me. I found a Randall knife that I didn't even know I was looking for. Model 16 special fighter with a smooth button sheath. Wasn't a smokin' deal but fair, about 160 dollars over ordering one retail. It's a model 1 blade with a full tang. Like I said neither were a steal but all parties involved were happy. One of the longest days I've spent at a show I a long time. Also picked up the leather gun rug in the pics for 10 bucks just shortly after walking in the door, maybe that was a good sign.

That gun rug is great. I'd have paid twice that. My question is about the Randall. I know nothing about them other than, they are very high quality and very expensive. Why would you have to pay $160 more than new? Is it because of demand and wait time ?

Yes. Current wait time is six years. Some dealers have standing order status and get them faster but they charge a premium over the catalogue price.

Nice 1903 OP.

I have a few myself.

I originally wanted a slightly later one with walnut grips, but settled for this 1921 vintage one. For price and condition I think I did well.
One of the reasons I gravitated to the knife is the smooth snaps dates it to the same time as my 14 that I bought new in 1989.
