Gun shows - anyone find them of value?

If you are thinking about buying a gun and don't know which one would feel best to hold, then a gun show is a good place to go and handle a wide variety of guns. If you are an old school gun show attendee that goes looking for bargains and nice vintage revolvers or even some nice old third generation S&W or other bargains, then the new gun shows have less and less to offer.

If you want a new gun and don't mind over paying they are a great place to do that.

Have to disagree with that last sentence. Out here the prices lately have been about the same as buying from Bud's and getting it shipped and paying the transfer fee.

I "like" gunshows both as a vendor and as a buyer. When going thru as a buyer, I'm usually looking more for gunparts than whole guns. But, show me an underpriced quality gun and I will jump on it more often than not. As a vendor lately it has been working very well for me in 'thinning' out the herd. I enjoy nice people and about 99% of the people that I meet while I'm selling are very nice to visit with if nothing else.

The only problem with the purchase of gunparts at a gunshow is that I better know darn well what the part is actually for, because often the seller only has the vaguest of notions. ........
