Always a fun thread and I haven't seen one in a while, the guns we wish Smith & Wesson would make but they don't. I'll start.

610 Mountain Gun.

First, reintroduction of the rare 617 no-dash 8 3/8" with the same barrel profile as an 8 3/8" 17 barrel.

Second, a 5" 610 seven shot with a 1950s style tapered barrel with ejector rod shroud. (2000Z-71's 610 Mountain gun with refinements :D)

Hi,

I would like to see a 624 4" full lug with interchangeable front sight and a 27 4" full lug, both without the lock. Should make nice range guns...;)

Let's hope and pray
Ulrich

I'd like to see a high polish blue Model 19 and of course, no stupid lock.

A new 3 1/2 no-lock model 27, only in caliber 44 special.

696 3" 44 special
66 3" .357...to drive the prices down

All no lock and no MIM with hammer mounted firing pins of course :)

I'll second that request. If I ever stumble on a 4 inch 610 locally I plan on doing a bit of machining on the barrel to take it to a semi lugged profile. Wouldn't be able to match the tapered barrels used on the Mountain guns but think it would make for a good looking heavy barrel variant.

I've thought about doing the same with my 6 1/2 inch 610 but many types of steel has a distinct tendancy to "warp" when you remove material from one surface. In the 4 inch barrel any change in shape due to relieving the internal stresses on one side by material removal would be minimal.

Now I'll add another. A 3 1/2 inch 627 with the tapered barrel profile and features of the original Registered Magnum down to the checkered top strap. I'd also like to see it as a 6 shot moon clip gun so that the moon clips could have the relief cuts between chamber positions like the 10mm moon clips. Those relief cuts make the 10mm clips very easy to load by hand.

Final thought, a 9mm tapered barrel, semi lugged, 4 inch, 6 shot moon clip variant of the 686 with the DX sight system. That would make for the Ideal revolver for IDPA style action matches in the revolver classes. In fact if S&W made something like this it would probably become the predominant gun used in these matches. No problems making Power Factor and the shorter 9mm round would be very quick to load using clips.

Yeah, I love stainless and moon clips.

My vote is for round butt K frames in 2", 3", 4" barrels! The 4" in a tapered barrel! Sans lock and MIM parts of course!

On a more modern note, bring back exposed hammer semi-autos with plastic frames.

Who thinks they may be leaving the paranoid market to the Ruger P-95 and P-345.

I'd love to see them make a blue 4" fixed sight 45 Colt, wih the thin barrel like on a 21-4 or 22-4!

i would like a a k framed 327 federal square butt with a partial lug in a 4 inch barrel!

2" Model 67 Square Butt

A no lock 2" Model 67 with red ramp and white outline sights, a smooth combat trigger, and real wood PC service grips.

Smith and Wesson was very successful with their .22lr version of the Models 15 , 14 and 686 with their Models 17 , 18 and 617.

Where they dropped the ball was never making .22 lr version of their most famous magnum guns.

My dream guns would be 22. lr versions of the Model 19 , 66 and 27.
All would weigh exactly the same as their Magnum big brothers and all have the same half lug profile shrouded ejector rods as the originals .

A DA top break using modern steels chambered for the .357 Magnum, 44 special or .45acp with moonclips.

I'd like to see a S&W 9mm pocket revolver in scandium with a frame even smaller than the J-frame (down-sized 340PD). I believe that the J-frame was an enlarged 32 frame, and there may still be tooling available. Laser grips would be nice, as would sturdy (non bending) moon clips.
