Guns you've always wanted but never obtained.

I have managed to accumulate a large menagerie of firearms, but there are still a few that have eluded me, for one reason or another, so far:

Ithaca M1911A-1
Colt SAA
Colt Diamondback .38 4"
Webley MkVI .455
686 Mountain Gun
25-7 5"
520 NYSP
Thompson Gun
1941 Johnson

I have concluded that some of those, barring a miracle, are beyond reach. The Diamondback prices are absurd, and the Thompson & Johnson are way more than I can afford. The rest I expect to get my hands on eventually if I live long enough. I have managed to acquire almost every gun that I said I would own when I was a kid, plus a whole lot more, so I haven't done too bad so far. I'll never be done buying guns, there will always be one more that prompts me to say "hey, that's different, I should get that".

One of the long list of guns I "always wanted", but never owned is coming to me as we speak: a CZ 75. I know, I know... Well, I'll let you guys know how I like it. Haven't bought a 9mm since one of the importers had the Walther P5 for sale about 20 years ago. Still have that one, but haven't shot it for a long time. I am interested in the CZ 75, partly as a result of its cult like status during the waning years of the Cold War, and partly as a result of positive reviews by Jeff Cooper.

Best Regards, Les

Being a person of simple taste and modest means I would like:

S&W, 2", S/B, Blued Model 10, that has honest wear but doesn't look like it's been dragged behind a truck down a gravel road.

S&W, 4", Blued, Model 30-1 or 31-1 same condition as the Model 10.

They are out there and I'm trying not to be extremely picky  but I won't pay $500.00 for a gun that looks like it should be worth no more $300.00 on a good day. hardcase60

A decent Broomhandle Mauser.

A Sig P210.

I've managed to accumulate everything else I've really wanted.

I see a lot of folks have 9mm Lugers on their list. I completely agree, but I'd suggest broadening your horizon to include the .30 caliber versions. They are usually cheaper, the ammo is still available, and it is the original Luger caliber.

Springfield M1A Super Match in 308
Smith & Wesson 1911 Billboard
Smith & Wesson Model 940
Smith & Wesson Model 686+ Talo with 7" barrel
Smith & Wesson Model 1917
Remington R-1 with Polished Nickel Finish
Any number of nice wood stock bolt action rifles
Every S&W 357 revolver that I do not have yet...

So many, but I'm such a pragmatist that I can only own guns that have a purpose. a Ruger Blackhawk in .41 Mag, ad infinitum, ad nauseum...

I too like guns with a purpose.

This causes me to shed a tear once in a while. At 2 different times I owned A ruger 3 screw 4 5/8" bbl in 41 Mag. It was the perfect packing size. My brain is not my best friend at trade times, while getting some Colts I let them go. I later sold the Colts after the prices went up.

Now I no longer have the Rugers. Watch out here comes another tear. :(

The original Hawken rifle I fired at a ronyvoo at Ft. Bridger WY back in the 80s.

I once owned a 54 Hawken built by Milt hudson when he started Ozark Mtn Arms. The rifle had been on the cover of Guns and Ammo. It had Long locks, triggers, a Hand made green Mtn BBL and rienhart Fajen made the stock by hand.

Milt change all the hardware and was catching it from dealers, showing them a prize and sending a lesser gun. He had one made up with the new parts and I was in his shop the day he decided to let it go, got it pretty cheap.

He had borrowed the original hawken in the arch Museum and had it copied exactly. It was like having an original Sam Hawkins plains rifle, half stock.

I never would have parted with it except this fella kept bugging me to buy it, so I priced it at 3 times it's value to shut him up. His words were I'll take it and your copy of Guns and ammo. In hind sight he asked for the Magazine after buying it. But being a man of my word, no matter what just came out of my mouth, I sold it. Now with the magazine added in I should have said deal but you gotta take my soon to be hot check writing ex.

Addendum; It's been 40 some years, but the lock and trigger were made by long and Roller.
