gunshow weekend

hit two shows this weekend. my son is looking for a nickel 45acp for his birthday and wifey said ok, tell your Dad to find one. First show had a pre27 8 3/8's, little freckling, holster wear, visible red rust at end of bbl ... the guy said $475 so had to take another look. Action was out of time and there was a hitch in the giddy up ... probably bent ejector rod. Passed. Probably hate myself later.

Outside, guy had two older snubs... a nickel terrier 38 S&W with top side plate screw. Looked very nice, grips were excellent as well as finish. serial # 76176. $475 (again). the other was a square butt chief 2" blue, in original box. serial # 112xxx. 3 screw. It was nice too. $525. I offered $800 for the pair, he came back at $900. shoulda, coulda, but didn't.

today, different show, one guy had an unissued 45 brazilian crest marked, brand spankin new. he said 45 colt, and he knew his stuff, so maybe 45 colt. $1495. He had another at home, same deal. His father was a big time collector and he has been selling off his collection. he also had a mod 17 no dash serial #35017x that was like new, red ramp and w/o rear. Looked original. $995

so put 300 miles on the truck and bought nothing. But it was fun looking.

Still thinking about that terrier.
