Id always thought-sight unseen--that Chester (Weaver) quit during the 6th season? which leads me to wonder how long Quint (Reynolds) lasted on the show? Ive never seen any Quint eps either.

Another, I wonder what season it was where Dillon quit visiting Boot Hill and musing how the interned-got there.
Dennis Weaver on Gunsmoke:
1955–1964: Chester / Chester Goode
That would mean he was there about ten years.

Burt Reynolds on Gunsmoke:
1962–1965 ..Quint Asper.. 50 episodes
I got the above from Wikipedia which is usually pretty reliable. You could also check IMDB (International Movie Database, but it also does TV ... just Google it.)

I believe that role was the first one he tested his future "Festus" voice out in? Ive seen other things including movie serials that he starred in-and he spoke in his real accented voice-much like when he was Captain Dickinson in: The Alamo. He also sang at least two songs in that--one was for Aiessa's birthday (on screen)

Yes he launched into a very thick drawl in the Searchers. Ken Curtis and the Sons of the Pioneers serenade Maureen Ohara, in the John Ford/Wayne movie in which their son played by a mister Jarman has enlisted in the cavalry.

Season 7 episode 13, 1962 "Us Hagens" he was trailing his Uncle for killing his twin brother. He was not as lighthearted character as later. I believe he became a regular in "Prarie Wolfer" in season 8 episode 16. Played in over 300 episodes. Being John Ford's sil couldn't hurt when breaking into movies. Before Sons of the Pioneers, he was a big band singer, I believe with Tommy Dorsey.

I was just having a nice conversation with another Gunsmoke fan yesterday. SHE said that Festus was inbred and was mentioned in his first app, as Festus. He also supposedly had a fling with an aunt.

Thanks much, and I keep forgetting about IMDB. Id like to look some other western stuff up too when time permits?

That'd be: Rio Grande. Its one of my all-time favorites. I have a promotional still lying about somewhere?

When they were in that tent singing songs-they were singing: Ah Ha, San Antone and My Gal Is Purple-both written by Dale Evans.

My mother is from Texas and I have never heard her say "San Antonio". It's always "San Antone".

That's the way I say it also. Oh and Dale Evans apparently married young--not legal age-to someone who was a scumbag. Thankfully Roy later took her away from those memories.

Now that im watching: The Loner-im beginning to miss Chester's "Mr. Dillon" bit.
