Today I was two weeks post second vaccine, the recommended wait time for immunity. I treated myself to a professional haircut, I had forgotten what an enjoyable, simple pleasure it was! This was my first professional haircut since February of last year. My daughter-in-law cut my hair a couple of times with her dog clippers and that worked fine except for my sudden craving for Alpo. Alas, she got busy with public work situations so we stayed apart. My neighbor told me I looked like a homeless person, didn't bother me but I miss folks offering to buy me a hamburger.

The shop required a mask and recommended one with ear loops and it worked very well! One loop at a time could be removed to work on that area. Glad to have it done and a wonderful treat to me at least.

I bought Chris clippers last year and she watched a couple of YouTube videos. Years ago she cut our son's hair and mine. When the clippers wore out, we were sent to the barber.

I had my first store bought haircut a week ago. The barber said I sure left a lot of hair on the floor.

I didn't worry about the Alpo, but the licking myself and the butt scootching on the carpet was getting me in trouble.

Another thing my wife has gotten good at over the last 12 months. She cuts my hair so well I don't think I'll ever be going to the Barber again! PLUS....... I like giving her a good tip! :D :D

I have a full head of hair too - and truth be told, it's not difficult and sort of fun to do. Until Covid hit I never realized it was as easy to cut hair as it turned out to be. Since this Pandemic, the thought of a Barber using scissors, combs and tools in my hair that he used in everybody else''s that day kind of skeeves me out! They do not let the tools sit in the Barbasol nearly long enough to be properly sterilized and I also don't want someone breathing down my neck who has cut many others hair before mine.

I had not been to the barbershop since this stuff started but my grandson was cutting my hair. That ended when he had a heart attack and open heart surgery(He is doing good).
The fringe around my bald head was getting way too long. I went to my regular barbershop wondering how they were handling the situation. You came to the door and they handed you a number and you sat in your car until called. Even though I have had my second shot I was glad to see them taking precautions.
I see my Dermatologist Thursday and she will have clear view to do her stuff.

My wife has been cutting my hair, using a set of Wahl clippers that we bought at the beginning of the insanity. She has done so well that I don't plan on going back to the barber any time soon. She uses the #4 on the top and back, uses the ear tapers on the sides, and I then trim up the beard (something new since COVID, I haven't worn one since the late 80's) using a #2.

Besides, I have to amortize the $60 that the set costs. :)

You guys aren't the only ones that hadn't had a professional haircut in a year or more. I've given myself 3 haircuts and need to again. Or wait a couple more weeks and go to a salon. I've never given much $$$ to the pros, DIY haircuts, coloring, and perms. Never had any serious screwups.

I also cut all of my husbands hair most of the time.

I cut my own hair for 20+ years. Super easy because I just want it short. No need for styling, conditioner or combing it. If I wake up with bed head, it got cut that day. Pair of clippers with a 5F blade all over my round head, a little trim with a tighter blade around my ears and I am done.
My father in law could no longer drive so I was taking him in for a cut. Second trip I was in need of a cut so decided the $16 price was beyond reasonable and I was not in the mood to deal with it that day.
Dad and I had hair cuts on the same day for a year after that. He has moved into a home and gets his cut there now.
I still go to the barber. How do you not like a barber with a John Taffin book in his shop and builds custom fishing rods? We talk guns a little and fishing a lot, then politics to be polite because the whole subject either bores me or irritates me depending on the day.
I pay him $20 bucks. The conversation is worth more than the hair cut and I am getting a bargain in my mind.
Good conversation is hard to come by these days.

I'm in the same boat. My wife trimmed my hair once since COVID. Good thing I have a lot of caps!

I'm scheduled for my second shot on April 5th. I plan on getting a hair cut 2 weeks after that. Catfish Hunter may have been a great pitcher, but his hairdo doesn't suit me very well!

The barber shops here were closed for 43 days. As soon as they reopened I went back last summer. I have had no problems from this. My barber cuts hair all day for many people he has not died or gotten sick. I am so past caring about this virus I cannot express it and stay on this forum.

RacerX, I thank you. My computer screen needed cleaned any how!
I haven't paid for a haircut in 22 years, as my wife is a hair person. I built her a little corner in the cellar with a salon sink, etc.
Dang it, there's coffee on my keyboard, too!

My brother hasn't had a haircut since last march and said he wont until he gets vaccine. They live huddled at home. I missed one two week cycle and it was horrible.

I've been doing mine with a Wahl also. It's passable but I always have trouble with the back. I have to almost pay my wife to do it. For some reason she's afraid to.
The problem with doing it yourself is that after a while you get used to how it looks and think it's ok, when in fact with many it's not.
I don't care. It's like the lawn...if I mess it up it will grow back.
