half moon sight where to get

Ok tell me if this is a dumb question. Have a 1917 that has been neutered and really need a front sight. I have seen a couple of guns that have half moon front sights on a cut off bbl. and would love to give the ol girl a new nose if I could buy a half moon front sight. Where can I find one and does it have to be silver soldered on? I have put on several sets of shotgun sights with black jack epoxy and have had great luck. If I have to buy a whole bbl to get the site that may be an option. I am open to other suggestions as to what I can do to make it functional again. Most well equipped Gunsmiths (like Hamilton Bowen for instance) can fabricate one from barstock. I don;t think that I've ever seen a retrofit half round frontsight.

SDM Machine makes several S&W sights... they may be a good place to start.
