Han Solo Blaster....

There is another science fiction movie that used broomhandle Mausers as the basis for " ray guns." The movie is "Queen of Outer Space" and starred Eric Fleming (who became the star of "Rawhide") and Zsa Zsa Gabor. The premise of the movie was that three American astronauts had their ship go off course and end up landing on Venus, which is inhabited by women and run by an evil queen. The "ray guns" carried by the astronauts look like broomhandle Mausers covered with gold paint.

I think something along the lines of a Fat Man. Comes from the Fallout series of PC games. Fires mini-tactical nukes.

I saw the real Han Solo blaster. It appeared to be made out of a bromhandle Mauser, not just modeled after one.

I took pictures but they are lost.

According to the internet, Han's original blaster was used in two other movies before it became the iconic weapon we know today. Frank Sinatra's The Naked Runner, and The Sitting Target. When it was re-purposed for Star Wars it had a bunch of extra parts glued onto it.

Jerry Miculek also did a short test/review video of a real Broomhandle that was converted into a firing replica of a Star Wars blaster.

Holy smokes! Where can I get one of those?

Do you think with modern manufacturing techniques something like this could be made at an economically feasible price? If this was made in .22 Long Rifle and/or 9mm Luger I'll bet they could sell of barge load of them.

Don't give them any ideas! People put too much value in parts made from pot metal (ie Sig Mosquito).

I think it would be a pretty limited market. Did you watch the slo-mo shooting? there was a lot of flex especially in the scope mount. I'd be concerned about shooting it myself.

Buy a C96 Broomhandle Mauser and enjoy the real deal. They are a lot of fun and were WAY ahead of their time. Imagine some cowpoke with a Peacemaker coming up against a C96. Talk about outgunned..

Overpriced, unless it still works. If it works, significantly underpriced . . .

I was wondering if I should put this in the "Other brands" forum.

Han Solos blaster from the Star Wars movie looks like a broomhandle Mauser.

han solo blaster - Google Search

The original just sold for $550.000.00 at auction. I wonder if I can find one on 'Gunbroker'.:)

If you web-search, there are articles on what they did to modify the Mauser into a blaster.
Muzzle device from an MG34 or some such etc.
