Hand Ejector mainspring problem

I have a older hand ejector that appears to be made up of misc. parts. The mainspring binds on the rebound block when cocked single action. It appears that the mainspring needs more of a curve in the body of the spring up toward the hooks.

Is there a difference in mainsprings from early guns to later ones? If so, where can I buy an older type.

Betcha the strain screw is backed off or has been shortened. Try turning it in, or replace it with one from another gun. Failing all of that, one should be available by mail order.

The strain screw appears to be normal from comparing it to a fully functioning K frame. The strain screw is as tight as it will go.

I believe it to be a K frame but must confess to not having seen an I frame. The latest patent date on the barrel is 1914.

My I frame has a 1914 date as the last pat date.

What caliber do you have and how many chambers in the cylinder?

The marking on the barrel says 38 S&W, 6 inch. The cylinder is a 38 special with a different serial number than the frame. Looks to me like someone took a frame and made up a pistol out of mismatched parts.
