Handgun storage racks

I need to rearrange some handguns in my safe. I remember a discussion here or on another forum. About a plastic coated metal rack that held 6 or 8 or maybe more handguns. Some one had found it at somewhere like Home Depot or a kitchen store. It was not marketed as a handgun storage rack and was cheaper then buying them at a gun store. Does anybody remember this, or have any suggestions? Thanks.

Sounds like a dish rack. Go to the "Home" section of wallyworld, Target, etc., and you should find what you need.

The purpose-built ones, available at Bass Pro, Cabelas, Midway, etc., are very sturdy and wide enough to do the job properly.
Might be some dish racks available, but I never found any that did the job right.
Cruise the forums and you'll find some beautiful oak and cherry made by forum members at reasonable prices.

Walmart racks, white in color ,do a super job holding the guns upside down for $3.95 each. We have 8 of them to use with "over flow". As a side note , the ones I use for the Glocks can be set right in the dishwasher for cleaning, Glocks and all {just kidding}.

Didn't some of the safe companies used to sell a wooden peg type rack that went on the inside of the safe door? I believe Treadlok used to market such a storage method. I'd like to find a set of those.

For the life of me, I have never been able to find the magical walmart dish racks in any walmart (or other store) around here. I can find dish racks but they look nothing like the ones used to hold guns.

This concept looks interesting if your top shelf is low enough to clear the guns as the door closes.

I have 3 of the www.gunracksonline.com racks and they are great. I think the guy who makes the racks is a S&W forum member and he does a great job on his racks.

The wood in these racks looks great with the wood grips on the handguns. Remember, 'Rubber is for car tires, not gun grips". Just a thought!!

If you are looking for something simple, how about a board about 1" X 6" as long as the safe is wide.
About every 3" along the back edge drill a hole and insert a dowel at a 45 degree angle sloping up and towards the front of the safe. The holes and dowels sized so the barrel of the handgun slides over it the handgun is then supported by the dowel with the grips facing the door of the safe, the muzzle pointing down and towards the back of the safe or shelf. I don't know if dowels small enough for a .22 would be strong enough to support the weight of the gun.

Yep -

These came from Walmart. I believe they're dish racks, eight slots, and can be found in Housewares. They were $4.00 ea.
Gotta be careful when placing two N frames next to each other as they're apt to bump into each other.

Indeed he is, he posts here as hanau. I bought a rack from him off of fleaBay a few years ago and told him about this place. He's been delighting members ever since with his work.

I discovered something amazing when I recently reorganized my safe for the umpteenth time.

Semiautos balance very nicely upside-down on their slides. You can line a bunch of them up together in very little space.

Too bad I have mostly revolvers.
