Taking a trip out west from Texas. Will travel through Washington and stay in Ocean Park, WA for a few days. Will travel through Oregon but not spend the night.
Have done my best to read the gun laws. It looks to me like in Washington I have to have the gun unloaded and in a case. My suitcases have locks, so thinking unloaded revolver in a locked suitcase.
Think in Oregon I can have it loaded and locked in the glove box. In a pickup so no trunk to put it in.
Would appreciate some local knowledge from you folks that live in Washington and Oregon.

In WA you may carry a loaded pistol openly without any license or permit. If you get into a vehicle that open carry is now concealed carry, which would require a CPL.

You may carry a loaded pistol concealed, in a vehicle or not, without any permit or license as long as you are traveling to, engaged in, or traveling from an outdoor activity like hunting, fishing, hiking, or backpacking.

There is also a link somewhere on the Attorney General's page for the state CPLs that WA accepts. Otherwise, the description you have gotten of locked case such as your suitcase in the trunk is fine.

this site has links to each state's handgun laws, plus summaries

Example: WA ) Any person while carrying a pistol unloaded and in a closed opaque case or secure wrapper.

Caution in Oregon: cities, like Portland, have additional local laws about guns in vehicles

Thanks for the heads up about Portland. My route from Ocean Park, WA to Boise, ID does take me through Portland but will be sure not to stop. No other big cities until I am out of enemy territory.

FWIW, WA has fewer LEO’s per capita than any other state in the nation.
