I'd like to thank the members who responded to my WTB ad. I was looking for OEM grips for a Mod 59. I made the purchase, plus, a holster from a very generous member of this forum. Not sure if he wants his name published, I'll let him do that.

The Mod 59 was the first handgun I ever purchased, in 1980. Yea, I'm that old, :).

The reason I wanted the OEM grips was it is time to pass that handgun on to a young man, our 14 year old son. He has shot the handgun several times and is fairly accurate with it.

I've already given him the Sears Mod 1 .22 I got on my 12th birthday. Yes, he got it on his 12th birthday.

This is a good forum, I'm going to enjoy visiting on a regular basis.

Again, thank you.

Awesome job getting that youngster involved in firearms and shooting. :)

If we don't get the next generation involved, the following generation won't have the opportunity.

Last year when the grandkid was 12 I found a nice 17-4 and gave it to him. I also gave my son my Python that I bought in 1965 and carried as my gun ever since. By giving the guns to them now I get to see them shoot and enjoy them. I think people place more value on something that was give to them over something they inherit. Since my son has my Python I will have to make do with a 27-2 or a 29-2 the rest of my life. I think you are doing good to give your guns to young people that will enjoy them. Larry

This story sounds very familiar...

My dad gave me a 1911 on my 12th birthday, and I inherited his Model 60. But that was a long time ago.

Sharing is good for the soul.

When my son moved out, several guns did too.

Now when he takes his son to a gunshop, the little guy starts naming what he wants for Christmas.

Sounds like our children. Our son has his sights set in a Mossberg 500 and our daughter wants a .223.
