How do you cure them?

I usually take a daily vitamin, some tylenol, and a very tall glass of gatorade seems to do the trick for me.

I've heard some crazy remedies for a hangover so I thought I'd give everybody a chance to chime in. And before anybody says it "don't drink" is not an acceptable cure for a hangover. :)

While i don't have much call for it anymore, sugar and fluids. Eating and drinking milk before going out, helps even more. Or eating right after drinking.

A large glass of water and two Advil before bed, a second glass when I wake up in the middle of the night to get rid of the first, and a third when I wake up in the morning.

A big breakfast at my favorite greasy spoon with lots of coffee and OJ.

I never found a cure for a hangover, only a prevention. Don't drink.

That's about the best way. Hangovers are enhanced by dehydration. Lots of fluid before bed and repeat when you get up. I prefer a good stout bloody mary to the breakfast however ;)

Back in the day when I had to get up and be productive in the a.m. and was gonna be out among 'em the evening/night before, I always placed a large empty cup on my pillow. Said cup reminded me that it was beneficial to drink a very large amount of water before hitting the crib.

'Course, that didn't help a bit if I was unable to find my bedroom and was relegated to sleeping on the couch. :)

This topic is timely because just yesterday a pal remarked that being drunk at 3 o'clock in the afternoon is a feeling that just cannot be replicated in the dark hours of the day. I think I shall check in with her to see how she's doing this morning. :p

Be safe.

Like Willie sang, "the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad, so I had one more for dessert".
In Latin America they swear by "Mondongo" tripe stew, available at most late night and early morning diners, I'd rather just live with the hangover.

Seriously, I haven't had a hangover since I cut way, way, back on the drinking about 4 years ago. Had enough of them before that to last me for the rest of my life.

That line is from "Sunday Morning Going Down" and was written by Kris Kristofferson. It was first sang by Johnny Cash.

Hangover cure...

The Chinese general Sun Tsu said the cure for a hangover was not to have one but let your enemy have one and then conquer him the next morning! While this is not a cure it is a good idea. I have no cure for hangovers other than try to eat something and ride it out. Maybe a cup of good coffee. I avoid them cuz they suck. Have you ever shot a bowling pin match with a hangover?

Before you go to bed for the night take the cap off a bottle of beer and let it set out till morning.

When you get up drink the warm flat beer.

That's an old wives tale.
All that does is prolong the hangover for an hour or get you started on drinking for another day. It don't work either way.

Saw one of those Dr.s on Fox News the other morning, Jan 1st I think. He said honey works. Something about the natural sugars burning up something or other. He didn't say how much. I couldn't understand it all because my head was throbbing so hard.

I've only had 1 hangover.

After a bachelor party I was so sick the next day that it cured me of drinking to excess. Finally, in late afternoon I began to feel better.

Found out later a fellow guest had shot spray paint into my long neck.

Now, when my lips get numb, I quit.

There ain't no "cure" Only time.

Drink lots of water take some aspirin, Tylenol whatever works best for you head.

As you hug the porcelain throne, saying I am never drinking again.:p

actually, there is a semi-cure. pedialyte, it rejuvenates you with all of the electrolytes, and the main reason for the headaches and feeling like crap is the dehydration that alcohol causes, it was suggested to our guys by the head athletic trainer at my college as well. I used it after all of my weight training and it helps you out very very quickly so i would assume it would be great for hangovers as well. (never had a hangover so i cant attest to that, but science says it works and so do some of my buddies that i suggested it to)

Yep, my Doctors are smarter than I thought they were. They told me I can't drink anymore because of my heart and I have not had a hang-over since. :)

Thanks to the OP for this question because I had not really thought about it until now.

Gatorade tastes better.I went UF where it was developed and got to "test" it on many a hang over:)."I say no thank you please, I'm tired of waking up on the floor." (The No No Song)

Thank God those days are over.

As a athlete you should know that hydration before dehydration is way better. Once dehydrated you are doomed. Even IV's will only help so much.

So if you are gonna drink. Have lots of water and food before drinking.

Couple of guys I used to work in the steel mill with said the best way was to keep drinking and stay drunk.Far as I know they're all dead now.

gatorade tastes better because its loaded with sugar, i guess if you are drinking though you dont care much about what goes into the body anyway haha.

From the posts, a lot of you feel similar.. Hangovers are a "rite of passage" for most. We get to the point in our lives that the morning after is not worth the night before.. And hangovers then become a thing of the past.

As to Gatorade, it was originally developed as an oral rehydrating product for use in third world countries by MD's that had been stationed in Vietnam and saw the high infant mortality from diarrhea. My internist in Tampa 28 years ago was one of the bunch.. IIRC they were mostly U of F MD's. I don't think he had to practice. Waiting room was mostly empty and he was always dressed to the "nines" - A different three piece suit every time I saw him..

I'm sure they made more $$ rehydrating ball players than saving the third world babies...

A greasy pork sandwich served in a dirty ashtray, with a nice tall glass of warm mayonnaise works every time. :D
