Hangovers...

I never found a cure for a hangover, only a prevention. Don't drink.

Yep, my Doctors are smarter than I thought they were. They told me I can't drink anymore because of my heart and I have not had a hang-over since. :)

Thanks to the OP for this question because I had not really thought about it until now.

actually, there is a semi-cure. pedialyte, it rejuvenates you with all of the electrolytes, and the main reason for the headaches and feeling like crap is the dehydration that alcohol causes, it was suggested to our guys by the head athletic trainer at my college as well. I used it after all of my weight training and it helps you out very very quickly so i would assume it would be great for hangovers as well. (never had a hangover so i cant attest to that, but science says it works and so do some of my buddies that i suggested it to)

Gatorade tastes better.I went UF where it was developed and got to "test" it on many a hang over:)."I say no thank you please, I'm tired of waking up on the floor." (The No No Song)

Thank God those days are over.

As a athlete you should know that hydration before dehydration is way better. Once dehydrated you are doomed. Even IV's will only help so much.

So if you are gonna drink. Have lots of water and food before drinking.

Couple of guys I used to work in the steel mill with said the best way was to keep drinking and stay drunk.Far as I know they're all dead now.

gatorade tastes better because its loaded with sugar, i guess if you are drinking though you dont care much about what goes into the body anyway haha.

From the posts, a lot of you feel similar.. Hangovers are a "rite of passage" for most. We get to the point in our lives that the morning after is not worth the night before.. And hangovers then become a thing of the past.

As to Gatorade, it was originally developed as an oral rehydrating product for use in third world countries by MD's that had been stationed in Vietnam and saw the high infant mortality from diarrhea. My internist in Tampa 28 years ago was one of the bunch.. IIRC they were mostly U of F MD's. I don't think he had to practice. Waiting room was mostly empty and he was always dressed to the "nines" - A different three piece suit every time I saw him..

I'm sure they made more $$ rehydrating ball players than saving the third world babies...

A greasy pork sandwich served in a dirty ashtray, with a nice tall glass of warm mayonnaise works every time. :D

My college age daughter's first drunk occured when several of her softball team mates convinced her to drink a couple of Mike's Hard Lemonades chased with several shots of Smirnoff. We got a phone call at 2:00 A.M. from the emergency room, they had her there hooked up to an I.V. flushing out 2X the legal limit of alcohol. She positively hates needles, that coupled with the embarassment I believe will keep her from ever drinking enough to get another hangover. The E.R. staff had flushed her system so well that by the time we got there (a 2 hr. drive) you couldn't tell she had been drinking, much less 2X the legal limit. We were very thankful for swift action by all involved and a positive outcome to what had the potential to be a tragic incident.

i don't have a specific hangover remedy but i will share the advice my dad gave to me on the subject. "son you know what the best hangover remedy is don't drink."

My unfortunate experience was that a dedicated excess drinker doesn't get hangovers. Or change what you drink to cheap whiskey/ice and water. It's all the additives that give a hangover.

There is no help for a Boone's Farm hangover. Just one time in 1970 and NEVER again. It astounds me what college kids will drink, not the quantity, but what's in the glass.

Drink as much water as you do beer (or a glass of water for every ounce of hard liquor) the night before. If you forget to do that, drink lots of water the next morning and take a couple of aspirin. The aspirin is not only a pain killer, but a blood thinner, which the other pain killers aren't.

Or, you could just limit yourself to two drinks a night. It's cheaper that way. :D

I think it's been pretty much covered, but lots of water before you sleep is the only thing that works.

And try not to go to right to sleep after drinking. If you can stay up for an hour after your last drink (while drinking water) it helps immensely.

Other than that, some greasy bacon and eggs in the morning always seems to settle my stomach. And a humidifier on at night will help with the dry nasal passages.

Take a nice big thick Tomato, cut it up, add lots of salt and pepper. Than eat it, all of it.

You will feel fine in just a few minutes.
