Many years ago I gave my sister some boxes of old clothes. Last week, she was looking for something else in her attic and found one of the boxes. When she looked through it, she found this and asked if I wanted it back? When I saw it, I got excited because I remember playing with it and enjoying it. And, what is it?

It is a Vintage Mattel Electronics Handheld Football Game from around the mid 1970's. I remember my brother and I loved it, and the competition was fierce. So it is close to 50 years old, and works great. Luckily, I didn't leave a battery in it. Did anyone else here play one of these? You can play the game or another player. It keeps the stats (ST Key), the score (SC Key), and you can kick punts and field goals (K Key). Obviously, it is not like the games of today, but back in the day, it was COOL!:D

Never had one but saw them back in the day when I was in high school. Cool to come across it. Glad it works. Those kinds of gadgets were expensive back then and with gas was closing in on a buck a gallon that was about all I could afford.

I picked one up at a 2nd hand store a few weeks ago and it is harder than I remember. I am 57 and remember getting this for Christmas. Are you able to score? It has been kicking my butt. LOL

Yes I had one. I recall it being one of the very first ones we snuck to school for study hall. It would make a racket so we would disconnect the speaker as not to get caught.

Same here, I think one of my buddies had one. He also had a pachinco machine, and a foosball table and a pingpong table. He had quite the game room in his basement.

...electric football. The board would vibrate and the men would run all over the place and the linebackers would join hands and go in circles like a dance. Then you'd get out the steel kicker with the spring foot to kick a goal.:p

Those things are hilarious to watch. My sister-in-law bought a new one not long ago =I had thought that they went out of production long ago. We've played it at family get togethers. We divide into two teams and yell and cheer our team on as the ball carrier turns and goes the wrong direction, defenders run away from him, linemen head for the locker rooms(to use the stool, no doubt), etc. One time we laughed so hard we scared one of the kids in attendance.

I'm sure the electronic one is pretty fun, also; but this is the first time I've heard of and seen one.

Regards,
Andy
