Hard Chromed Shield!

It looks like high quality work and an excellent write up.

I'm not a fan of brightly colored guns intended for concealment. Thats just me though.

Are you able to acquire the sights faster now?

Thanks a lot. The sights are MUCH faster to acquire. Your eye is drawn immediately to the front sight. The U-notch and dot sight system is also extremely intuitive as your eye automatically wants to center up the dot in the U-shape. It is similar to the idea behind a ghost ring sight.

HOLY BEAUTIFUL GAT BATMAN!!!

Sweet looking Shield. Love the sights too!

Get this to the range and show it off!

Those sights are sweeeeet. I think ill be looking into those. And that finish is pretty sick as well. Great job.!!!

Nice set up, I believe I might be getting those sights as well once a range report is made on their performance

What a beautiful M&P 9 Shield you have!

I just picked up a 9mm Shield over the weekend myself and I very much dislike the sights. The back sight it very sharp and I've already ripped a hole in my pants pocket carrying it in a DeSantis Nemesis pocket holster.

I was Google'ing some sight options that included the 10-8 rear sight and I found your thread here and I'm sold on that sight combo you have but i think I might want to go Hard Chrome too!

I just put the ameriglo front sight on my wife's gun & it was rather loose when it was installed. Did anyone else find this?

I feel your pain. Already received my ameriglo front sight, but 10-8 shows 8 weeks on the rear. Oh well, I blacked out the rear dots with paint for now.

AmeriGlo makes a U-notch rear sight, it is a .164", I ordered it, we'll see. It isn't serrated, so it may have a glare.

I finally got out to the range the other day to function test my Shield since the refinish job and Apex kit install. I shot another 185 rounds of my own reloads with no malfunctions (124gr Montana Gold JHP over 4.0 grains of Vihtavuori N320).

The lighter Apex trigger made shooting much more of a pleasure than the first time I shot the Shield with its factory 6+ lbs trigger pull. It was a lot easier to keep my sights aligned during the trigger press. The much shorter reset is fantastic, very Glock-like.

The new sights are also superb. Just like in dry fire practice, it is very easy to make precision shots by using a traditional blade and notch sight picture. The U-notch rear sight does not affect this. However, the U-notch rear and big bright green front dot shines when it comes to speed in acquiring your sight picture. It is natural and intuitive to want to put the bright circle in the U-shaped cut out.

For those wondering, this sight combo has the same height as the factory sights, so point of aim vs point of impact should not be changed. This is exactly what I experienced shooting from about 25 feet and closer. However, my front sight was installed slightly to the right in the dovetail (hard to see, but it was). This caused all my shots to go directly left of the bullseye; all my targets had a ragged hole in that location. So I need to drift the front sight to the left slightly to correct that.

I took my GoPro helmet cam along and made a short "montage" vid of my Shield and testing it out at the range:
