I was just wondering if anyone has had an item that sold on E-Bay and the buyer disappeared?

I sold an item on E-Bay 4 days ago and the buyer has disappeared. I've e-mailed him and sent him a bill a couple of times to no avail. It's weird as he has a ton of positive feedbacks that he pays super quick!

I sold an item a couple of years ago and the buyer took 10 days to pay. I understand that now the buyer has 4 days to pay.

Any advice or what should I do now?

I've had pretty good experiences on Ebay.

I think, given the circumstances and the many positives, I'd send him another email saying that, because of his prior good record, you are assuming that something has come up or happened and you will wait (like maybe a week) before reporting him as a non-paying bidder. Ask him to contact you as soon as he can and let you know if he's able to complete the transaction.

Now, if he has any negatives and they are for non-payment, then I'd skip the above and simply report and block then relist.

If you had another bid you can offer that bidder the 'second chance' offer. I think that is what its called. If it was BIN not much you can do but wait. You should file with eBay so you don't get charged the fees. Hope this helps and good luck.

E Bay Sales

It doesn't happen often, but once in a while somebody will back out of a deal. I usually give the buyer some time. Maybe he is on a trip without a computer, maybe he got sick etc. I generally relist the item after a couple of weeks. I have only given somebody a bad reference one time, and I have been selling for years.

I've had a good buyer be slow due to an emergency and I have been burned by a bad one. Sounds like your guy is more in the first category though.

I had a buyer back out on a Breitling watch I was selling on eBay. I left him negative feedback, he retaliated by leaving me negative feedback.
I put the watch back up for sale. The second buyer backed out. I left him negative feedback, he retaliated by leaving me negative feedback.
eBay restricted my account because of the negative feedback I received, even though I had done nothing wrong, the buyers were the ones who had violated the rules!
A month later I was able to relist the watch and it sold, but the buyer was very wary due to the negative feedback which was still on my account.
So be careful if you leave negative feedback on a bad buyer.

I would wait a few more days before doing anything, then send the buyer another email. Give him 3 days to respond. If he doesn't respond, file a non-paying bidder report. You need to wait I think 7 days before you can file for your fees back. Be sure you FILE FOR THE FEES BEFORE 30 DAYS have passed. Once you file for fees you can leave neg feedback and the buyer can't do a thing about it.

It really sucks when this happens. My son was selling a phone on evilbay and had 3 consecutive buyers back out. I wish there was something better out there.

After four days, you can open an unpaid item case. Click "customer support" at the top of any page. I typically wait a week, but don't wait too long or you won't be able to file. The buyer then has four days to pay, at which point you can cancel the transaction, receive a refund of the fees and either relist or make a second chance offer. You won't be able to leave feedback.

As posted ebay is slanted in favor of the buyer. For most normal items I'd get credit for any ebay fees & move on, relist.

I've never had buyers back out but I've had sellers back out and not complete the transaction.

man, it can be a pain! i sold a really nice vw beetle on there a few years ago, and some guy in canada won the bidding at 10,500.00. several days went by with no contact from him. finally after 3 or 4 days, i emailed and asked what was going on. 3 or 4 days later, he replied that he didn't realize what a big deal it was going to be to import it into canada, and no longer wanted the car!!! what a moron. i had to file a non-paying bidder report, leave feedback, and relist the car. nearly a month later, the new buyer took it away. i really can't believe how unconcious some ebay users are. you just have to hope for the best, i guess.
