How do you figure 30% have had problems?

Maybe 30% of the 15-22 forum visitors, a group of individuals by the very fact they are here are looking for answers to problems or are looking to give answers to problems.

In no way does an internet forum accurately represent the scope of an issue with a product. Compare the number of active M&P 15-22 subforum members(with 15-22 problems) with the total number of 15-22s manufactured since release.

I think you will find the defect rate substantially smaller than 30%.

How would you imagine a product with 30% defect rate would win the Shooting Industry Rifle of the Year Award?

thats true i bet 80% of M&P owners dont come to the forum so its those looking for fixes that will more than likley end up here.

I put 1,000 rounds thru mine last week. I had a few FTF but that was an ammo issue. So far so good.

No problems with mine except for running out of ammo. Round count somewhere around 6000+. Just put 450 (Fed Bulk)through it today all flawless.

Mine runs so well that I can focus on shot placement instead is the next round going to boom and work like it's supposed to.

Nope. DTU as I recall. Got it in May or June of last year.

I have a DUA and the only issue I have had is running out of ammo. And I thak at least 1000 rounds when I go to the range

I have a DTZ and have about 1600 rounds through it. Zero problems! Awesome gun and a blast to shoot. Yours will do great for you!

Not one hiccup!!!!! Even the Rem gold{which I hate} ran perfect.

My favorites are Fed bulk and the very best is the relatively new
CCI Tactical.

Once I found what the gun liked the most I went out and bought thousands of rounds.

This gun is a wicked blast to shoot.

It's even fun to clean!

My only recommendation is to buy more mags for it.

I'm up to five and want more. But I have 75 AR mags so that isn't a good indicator for me.

The only finicky thing is the loading of the mags is pretty fussy.

Don't worry. When you get your gun, go slow and watch what it likes for about 100 rounds, then shoot the hell out of it.

I have a DVA also. I had problems with when I got to round 180-200. I was getting 1 failure to fire in each 10 round magazine for a while and thought it was the gun but I just had a bad box of Blazers apparently. Shot 400-500 with CCI Minimags (HP & round nose), a few of my cousin's remington gold, Winchester Super-X after that without a single problem.

yeah that sounds great and i agree about the mags but ive only ordered 1 spare as the mags are $60 each here in the UK.

im feeling allot more positive about my purchase since starting this thread

Don't worry about only having one spare mag....you'll save ammo cuz you'll be loading more often....

Nope, not a single problem here. I think mine is a DTH serial. It gobbles ups Feberal bulk like no other. I have 5 magazines for it, which kinda sucks because 1.) it takes 20 minutes to load them all 2.) they all UNLOAD in about a minute. haha.

thats what i was meaning, 30% of the people here. its slowed down a lot since they started sending out updated rifles though. not as many complaints coming in so thats good. I still cant figure out how this gun won rifle of the year award though.

There have been 298 15-22 owners polled. At the time of polling, 39 indicated they came to the Forum because they had problems with their rifle. Let's just toss those out of the equation.

47 indicated their rifle was working fine or had no known problems when they came to the Forum but later had problems.

212 indicated their rifle was working fine when they came to the Forum and as of polling had no problems since.

So.... out of 259 random happy Forum campers, 47 later had problems with their rifle as of the time they took the poll (18%). Now consider that there are folks like Brett who was part of the 212 but has since had problems with his rifle. So that 18% number is low.

Many polls are conducted of just a few hundred folks for an entire nation. 100% of all 15-22 owners around the globe need not be polled to get a fair idea of how the rifle performs.

As far as Rifle Of The Year... do you know what the criteria are for Rifle Of The Year? I don't. But my hunch is that it isn't likely based upon the 15-22 having superior accuracy and reliability compared to all other .22s. Probably it has more to do with units sold for a new product or something along those lines. 15-22 competed against the Bushmaster ACR and Savage Model 16. The Optic of the year was a $149 Redfield scope... which beat the $2,500 SWAROVISION binoculars.
