the flood is described in the epic of gilgemesh , about 2000 bc.
i agree with those that say the original story would have been interesting and entertaining without the monsters..ill probably still watch it though

Technically true, Nico, as the written canon of the Jewish Bible was closed in around 400 B.C. as I recall; the Christian Bible a few hundred years after that. The ark "myth," as you call it, had been passed through the Hebrew culture for many, many hundreds of years before that.

It's also true that variations of the ark account are part of the oral and written traditions of other cultures as well, and some are quite ancient.

I can't remember where I read this -- might have something on National Geographic's website or magazine -- but recently I came across a statement or story or short article talking about how there are many, many cultures around the world that have passed down the tale of an ancient flood, one that destroyed much of the world as they knew it. Apparently, something like that did happen at one time.

I WAS curious.....

I WAS curious about this move...... but not any more. I'm glad I read these 'reviews'. When somebody said 'strange, but it had a lot of action.' that really nailed it for me. I think I'd like "Mr. Peabody and Sherman".

Biblical themed movies are chancy. I didn't care for the one where one of the Archangels rebels against God. It did have a neat ending though. After the rebellion God got rid of the angel but immediately forgave him and brought him back.

Don't laugh but that's the movie we went to see last week, with the 6 and 8 year old grandkids :) Probably was a better movie to.

Religion is a banned topic.
Discussion of this movie will obviously lead into religious discussion, so we're done here.
