On 22 ammunition, that is? I checked the pro shop at the Fort Bliss Bow and Gun Club, and they were bulging with 22. I haven't seen CCI Green Tab for a year and a half: they had it in 100 round boxes for $22; buy as many as you wanted. I came home with 2. Federal Premium Match Grade was limited to one box per day. The only other brand limited like that was some very expensive Eley match. Haven't checked the LGS; I'll have to pay them a visit soon.

It looks like Remington has taken over sale of Eley 22 ammo in the US. Possibly as an attempt to overcome the bad taste their ammo has left in many of us. I remember pistol competition in the 1960s, where all we shot was Remington green box standard velocity. I even shot it at Camp Perry one year in my Model 41. Wouldn't do that with any of the current production. The Remington - Eley was labeled Club Extra, and was made in England, unlike some Eley Sport that is made in Mexico. I shot some of the Eley Sport; couldn't tell how well it was shooting as I was shooting it in a pistol, one handed, offhand. Even the worst ammo is more accurate than I am under those conditons.

kinda following suit with pistol ammo.
it was the high priced exotic stuff that managed to gather on a shelf first.

The Federal Premium .22 has been available constantly at my Academy, but at $20 / 100, not for me. Likewise the CCI Pistol Match at $15 / 100..

When we see Blazer or CCI Mini Mags again in quantity, I'll feel closer to resolution of the drought.

Midway just cancelled all my two year old 22LR case lot back orders. According to their email they had been informed by the manufacturers that the orders would not be filled within the coming year. Therefore, they were taking them off the books.

I wish I knew what was going on with 22LR. I see the target stuff becoming available, but the price is too high. (I never bought match ammo before the shortage. Does anyone know if the price asked for the target stuff becoming available now is higher than before?) I am very frustrated. I shoot more 22 than all the other calibers I own put together. Probably by a factor of 5X. At least that was true when I could replace what I shot up. I don't need any more centerfire. I need rimfire!

In South West Florida there hasn't been any 22 ammo for almost 2 years. I have 6K rounds on back order with Midway for 18 months. I hope they don't cancel the order.

Evidently all the 22 ammo was sent to the OP's store. I have not seen any here in 18 months.

The local Academy had Winchester white box (all lead projectile) .22LR at $0.06/round (I think it was $29.99/500 rounds - in a wooden box) as a promotional item (limit 2 boxes/person). The wife and I were there anyway, so we each bought 2 boxes (I got a good chuckle as the wife thought she was almost doing something illegal by buying ammo - she's a former German national, but has been a 'Merican citizen for the past 20 years.) I told my son that we have enough cheap .22LR to last us for a while - especially as he now has a hunting bug, and we no longer shoot steel as a result. I would love to see an end to the .22LR ammo shortage.

Best of luck,

Dave

Was in Cabelas yesterday and Remington thunderbolts were selling for $4 for 50. One guy bought them all, 10 boxes.

Dick's Sporting Goods does consistently get in various brands, types and weights of 22 Rimfire but unless you are "Johnny on the Spot" it goes out within a few hours. I suspect some of the LGS have "hooks" behind the counter and re-sell it in their own stores at inflated prices.

On the other hand, at least it is showing up once again - albeit NOT at great prices. The day of the cheap .22 is long gone!!

I scored four 325 round boxes of Federal AutoMatch .22 from Bass Pro's website last week for $19.95 per box. I think .22 is coming back gradually. There has been plenty of ammo at the local gun show for the past 6 months.

Academy on the west side of town has had CCI green tag numerous times this year.

I did a 1st time visit to an LGS 18 miles away today. Called to make sure he was open.

Small shop, nice fellow.

I see some Rem Gold HP ammo in Snack Baggies, 50 rounds for $2.50. He has 5 in a cardboard box laying on top of the REM 325 pack box lid. I'm not a hog so I pick up 2 and lay them by the cash register. Sorry Sir but only one per customer, hate to do that to you but I need to keep some for folks that buy guns here. OK, I understand.

50 rounds, this is the 1st 22 LR I've bought in 18-24 months. Actually this is only the 3rd time I've seen it around here, 2 other places get 5.99 or 7.99 per box of 50 when they have it.

Stopped my Acadamy Sports yesterday to purchase a Taurus PT111 Millenium G2 in FDE.

While filling out the paperwork I noticed that in the cabinet was stacked front to back, top to bottom with 300 round Federal AutoMatch 22LR for $17.99.

They also had 100s on boxes of Remington Thunderbolt, Viper, & Golden Bullets. Aguilla, American Eagle, and CCI quiet in 50 round boxes. Prices from $2.19 to $4.49 per 50 round box.

Behind the counter they had a good sizes stack of the CCI AR Tactical 22 as well as the CCI Choot EMs in 300 round boxes for $23.99 as well as a healthy supply of 100 round CCI Mini Mags for $7.49

It was marked as a limit of 1 300 round pack per day.

Not sure on the restrictions on the 50 round boxes.

The two Academy stores near me had "mass" quantities of CCI & Federal left at 10 am Monday, but were back to only the expensive Agulia and federal match by Tuesday. "Mass" meaning 12 boxes of Fed auto match and 5 boxes of CCI WMR.

It is not over.

STILL NOTHING HERE! I wanted to buy some .22LR ammo as a stocking stuffer but as usual, nothing for 100 miles around and everything online is overpriced!

This is 6 years now! Enough is enough! (changing the hearts and minds of the children)
