Have a new want

There is a 29 for sale, Armslist, Toledo Oh. Price is $625. I would have reacted to it if it wasn't a 8&3/8 barrel. Have never shot any revolvers over 6". Don't know if they are for me. Bob

Only one way to find that out, Bob!
:D

Don't do it!

They are gawdawful, heavy, hard to carry, way too hard to clean, tools of the devil.

...and to spare you the temptation, I will take them away, and lock them away in a safe. Except for the ones lost in the boating accident. Amen brother!

Go forth and buy the 6" ones.

P.S. To balance the karma of the demon 8.375 ones, I purchase all the 3" 629s and 24s I find. Balance is a good thing ;)

The long tubes balance and shoot better than you would think. Fun to try an reach out a couple hundred yards using a little Kentucky windage :)

A shrink cost more than the 29 and you would not still have one. Nuff said

Well I found a 19-3 that will pasify me for a short time. It's too nice to pass up. I still want to be the guy with " The big iron on his hip"

I've owned a couple of 29's over the years. Both a 4" and a 6". I found I almost never shot 44 magnum ammo in them. They were both great guns, but since I didn't really have a specific use for them, they were easy to let go of during a time of "economic downturn". Having satisfied that "itch" I've never wanted one again.

At the same time though I had a Model 24-3, 4", in 44 Special. THAT was a nice gun. Unfortunately it had to go during that same time. It was a much harder decision. When I got the 24 I thought it would be just like a 29, only in 44 Special. I was wrong. It was like the difference between a Model 19 and Model 15. The "special" version has a slightly shorter cylinder, and a tapered vs a heavy barrel. That makes the gun a little lighter, and a little trimmer. It felt totally different.

I've replaced them, more or less, with a Model 58 in 41 magnum now. Nice, but I'd rather have a Model 24 as my "big iron".

Be a man, get a long tube:

.......and be sure to get at least two of them!:)
