Last night I commented on a thread about Ciener .22 conversion units. I thought what I said was fair and reasonable. This morning when I check my e-mail, there is a note from the forum that a new message has been posted in the thread. When I click on it, it takes me to a window that says I do not have permission to access this thread. Did I do something wrong? I did not intend to. If a moderator will tell me what I did, I will not do it again.

That means the thread no longer exists. Probably had nothing to do with your post. If it had, you would have received a note from a moderator.

Threads go away for a number of reasons. The easiest way is for the OP to just delete the his first post. Sometimes a poster misbehaves and it gets locked, so no one can post to it. Other times it takes a nose dive and for peace and quiet a moderator deletes it. Don't take offense unless you got a note that it was you who was misbehaving.

It would be nice when the mods close a thread they put a short blurb in the thread stating why...........too rowdy........too many insults etc., etc.

You did nothing wrong. The forum owner took offense at my post and deleted it.

No, I did not delete your thread.

A Mod wisely moved it to a storage area because your statements bordered on libel.

I offered you the chance via PM to edit your post, send it to me, and I would then substitute the edit and return the thread.
You declined.
Correct?

It would also be nice if members simply read the rules, and used them as a posting guideline.
It would also be nice if members did not get wound too tight on an internet forum with people they will never encounter live, and simply post in a factual, less emotional fashion.

Great Expectations, I realize.

Well excuse me for asking a question or making a suggestion.

I've learned my lesson and won't do it again

In medevil (sp?) times it was among the ruling class considered unseemly/un-chivalrous for a male to occupy a seat left recently vacant by a female. Her butt left the seat warm, and just the warmth left transferred to you if you sat there to soon was it was not good.

I had a point..and train of thought when I posted this. Butt, my train looses more cars every day. WOO WOO CHOO CHOO

The warning system was set up to gently notify a person of an individual post that doesn't fit the rules. The infraction points are a bit harsher but the message will hopefully stick.

Locking threads generally occurs when the conversation has been either twisted beyond recognition from the original premise, gotten far out of hand, or simply run its course and has been beaten into submission.

Certain posts/threads are often deleted because they are so far out of line with the forum's general tone.

Once in a while, an entire thread is moved to the moderators' area for behind-the-scenes review and discussion.

It's easier to notify the one member why his/her post was deleted or leave a closing statement on a locked thread than to notify everyone who was involved in a thread under review as to the reason why.

I hope this clarifies a bit.

I have gotten stuff deleted and gotten a few warnings. (I will wear underpants now when posting) Some times I want to stamp my foot I get so upset. Butt the people here are unique and friendly, compared to similar sites, so I remember two tings. 1. I don't wanna get banned. 2. It ain't my party.
