Have you ever walked out on a movie?

Twice. Walked out on "Scarface" (after getting my refund).
Walked out on "What Dreams may come" (Robyn Williams & Cuba Gooding Jr.). I was literally walking down the hall of the theatre looking at starting times to see if ANYTHING else was starting soon.

Dinner and a movie used to be a popular first date strategy. I took a young woman to dinner and then to see "The last picture show". I knew nothing of the movie but it was getting great reviews. I was pretty shocked at the full frontal nudity in the movie and I believe she thought I was a perv.. We left the show at my insistence, and I haven't been to a moviehouse since. To give you an idea of how long ago that was the young lady was wearing a girdle.

Funny story

I remember watching Jaws (movie). During the underwater shot when the camera was locked on the hole in the boat and Ben Gardner's
severed head tumbles out of the boat - the lady in front of me shot straight up out of her seat and block my view.

For a moment I thought I passed out! :)

Decided I would probably get a heart attack next time a similar shot took place so walked out of the theater.:)

My friend, legs in braces from polio as a child. I shot him a look in one of those scenes and he jumped literally a foot out of his chair. I think every muscle he had just spazzed out in an instant.

Not enamored of celebrities.......

I just don't go to movies, and really seldom watch one on TV. It's just not my thing, and I'm not enamored by celebrities. I've never walked out on one, but I have seen one or two, that I wish I hadn't. I do remember when I was a boy, that my older cousin, took me and his two sons, who were around my age, to see "Tom Jones". We were snickering about the language of it, and knew this wasn't the type of movie he wanted us to see. He finally said, "Boys, this movie is bugging me, let's go."

Me neither, but a good actor in a difficult role is amazing. I mean a real ACTORr, not an 'image'.

It's like PBS

I don't subscribe to any of the cable movie channels (HBO, Showtime, etc.), but they occasionally have free weekends. It always amazes me how few of the movies they run are worth watching (and how few I've even heard of). I record them on the DVR, and for the majority I stop and erase within the first 10-15 minutes of watching. I suppose that's equivalent to walking out of a theater, except I didn't need to buy a ticket.

When they are fishing for customers and donations, they show the good stuff. After you subscribe they only show second rate stuff.

I've got pretty broad tastes....

I tried to read the book, "Lord of the Rings" and couldn't get into it so I thought the movie might be better. I walked out of it too!

But that 'Lord of the Rings' stuff never turned me on. It was big on college and people told me that I HAD to read 'The Hobbit'. I did and it did nothing for me.

None of those fantasy movies did anything for me either. The one I sat through, ive no idea what happened since I payedattention only to Maria-my then girlfriend.

Anyone here seen? Leonard Part 6????? IF Id seen it in theater? id have walked out on it.

I forget which one, but when I was in the Army in the '80s, one of the movie channels showed the Khaddafi funded "Lion of the Desert", seemingly multiple times a day, every day.

It was too porny.....

Wife and I walked out on "Flesh Gordon".
And not fast enough.
Jim

I went for the spoof factor, which was good in a few spots, but not enough to carry it well. I could add a few tidbits here that I gave me a laugh, but it's not quite right for this forum.

I guess I can mention the 'sex ray' the Emperor aimed at the earth and its effects. The part on the airplane was my favorite.
"Pilot to tower.....I've got........" and

Pilot: "The plane, it's going down"

Stewardess: "Yes!!!........"

Me and my GF in 1974

Yeah, I was dating young ladies, which used to mean something. I didn't want to take a young lady to a crude piece of trash, and the movie was going nowhere anyway.

PS How did you find out that she was wearing a girdle???:D

Thank goodness girdles were out of fashion by the time I was dating.

In 1981 my brother and I walked out of Chariots of Fire....... No chariots. No fire. BORING. Even though it won the Academy Award that year for Best Picture. A bunch of effete British snobs in the 1920's whining about their feelings.

We thought we were going to see Quest for Fire. A movie with a similar name that was in the theaters at the same time. QFF was about competing neanderthal clans in 50,000 BC.

Had better options. Left and went to a party..... early.

That's the ONLY movie I've ever walked out of. The worst movie I ever watched was RV with Robin Williams. What a stinker that was.
