Have You Found Your Perfect Handgun?

My Current Perfect Gun ...

If I can have only one of my guns as the most perfect it has to be my Shorty Forty. Serial number 36 of the Paul Lebinberger design that the corporate big wigs said couldn't be built until he brought it to the next Board meeting.

I have been searching for over 40 years for the perfect one and only CCW pistol, but as others have stated, it doesn't exist. I narrowed it down to 2 handguns, maybe 3.
The S&W 640 J frame in 357 mag.
The S&W Shield (I have one in 9mm)
When visiting high crime areas, the CZ 75B PCR.
My personal opinion, I aspire to the 3-3-3 rule; 3 shots in 3 seconds within 3 yards. (I used to think and say 3 feet, but I have adjusted my thinking as 3 feet is awfully close)
I am not a LEO, security professional or in any high level threat position; merely a mortal soul looking to protect my butt......

For the last 5+ years for me it's been an M&P 9c with thumb safety, 17 rounds with x-grip, in a Galco horsehide tuckable. I've tried revolvers and other calibers but this seem to work for me the best.

The best I found was the Colt Commander. I liked it in either .45 or .38 Super, though generally I leaned toward the .45 since I used to shoot a few rounds just about anytime I had the chance. Was loathe to lose my Super brass, which was much harder to come by back then.

I'd say my Bodyguard except that I still think it's a tad under powered, low on rounds, and I had to spend a decent amount on aftermarket parts just to "fix" the factory trigger.

So, maybe it's not the Bodyguard even though I carry it 5 days a week. It's not my Glock either, despite my love for it. Just a bit too fat and heavy.

I'd have to guess it's somewhere along the lines of a Sig Sauer P938 or maybe even a Walther PPS(v1)? I've held both but shot neither. Both seem like the right weight and size, plus 9mm, but only actual carry reveals the qualities of a gun that keep it in my rotation. I'm more citical of these things as I get older.

Since retiring from LE, I have tried every year as we come up on annual qualifications to cut down to just four. I think I've pretty well decided on the four I carry most often; M&P 340, 640-1, Shield .45, Glock 19. The 340 M&P gets the call a very large portion of the time, with the Shield being a close second.

This year, the 640-1 may get assigned to safe duty as I'm about to buy a new Model 66 2 3/4" .357 magnum. It's getting a little easier to decide as I get older and more used to comfort while maintaining capability, but I still find that different modes of dress, activity planned and locations dictate the choice for the day.

Yes I have. The Colt commander (04692) is the perfect handgun. With the right holster and belt it is comfortable to carry. I am for the most part a mediocre shot but with this weapon I can actually hit what I aim at out to 25 yards.

Airlites

Well after 10 years and 15 or so guns I've come full circle started out with a Model 37. Somehow became enamored with bottom feeders. Those are all gone except for a Glock in the nightstand. I've narrowed it down to these two, sometimes I carry both. A M&P 340 that I weld it up the internal lock holes.. it's now wearing a bead blasted finish and a titanium cylinder that I fitted. I'm kind of a two is one one is none kind of guy so I picked up 340pd no lock. I don't see myself ever carrying anything but a revolver and these two fit the bill perfect.
