I was going to a doctor's appointment last Wednesday. While driving on one of the main roads in my city, I saw a construction site I was approaching. My lane was going to close. I put my right turn signal on to change lanes. I was driving a Silverado 4X4. I look to my right an there is plenty of room to change lanes. I move into the right hand lane. I look into my rear view mirror and the driver behind me waves his had while keeping his hand on the steering wheel. In other words, he lifts his four fingers up on his right hand like I have done when letting someone over. I waive back. He goes nuts. If I had cut him off, I would not have been able to see him because he is in a small economy vehicle. He starts waiving his arms and working his mouth overtime while leaning over his steering wheel. As we get to the construction site, he pulls out of line and starts to pass me. I realize he is going to try and cut me off but he runs out of time. We get stopped by the traffic light in the construction zone. I am wondering what the **** is going on. Then, he is at my driver's window yelling and screaming that I tried to kill him and his passengers. I told him to get way from my truck. There is a vehicle in front of me and to my right. He is blocking any exit to my left. He moved closer and I cannot see his hands. I drew my Browning Hi-Power and placed it on my right thigh and told him to get the **** away from my truck. He saw me draw the firearm and backed up a couple of steps and then started yelling that I had a gun and was threatening to shoot him. The light changed and I pulled away. I immediately called the local police to report the incident. Believe me, in an incident like this you have got to report it right away. I was right. The police dispatcher told me that the other driver was on another line reporting me. An investigation was completed and I was told I did the right thing and I was free to go. Tough situation. The other driver lied about the facts and got caught. It could have gone bad had the police believed the lie. Anyone else have a time they had to draw their concealed carry?

I have never had to draw my weapon, but I have ran into more than one such idiot out there on the public streets. Sooner or later they run into another similar idiot and the gene pool gets a tiny improvement.

The other driver was in error for getting out of his car and confronting you.

However, driver tolerance varies on the part I highlighted, especially as you are in an oversize vehicle now blocking the view of somebody driving a car.

Had to draw my weapon once while preparing to launch my boat. A fellow jumped me from behind and tried to take my wallet. We ended falling over the boat trailer just behind the hitch. That gave me enough time to reach my weapon. Then another guy came from the back of the boat to assist the guy that jumped me. He stopped in his tracks when he seen my weapon. I backed up to put some space between them and me. They jumped in their vehicle and took off. I ended up with broken glasses and a bad black eye. They were at the ramp when I pulled up. We even talked some about my boat and fishing in the area. I assumed they were there to shore fish. I guess they thought they could get this old man's wallet. They were about 25 to 30 years old to this 67 year old fart.

Interesting story Doug627. Never had a situation go quite that far, but have been approached by a loon.
Good advice on how you handled it.
Thanks.

Always, always, always be the first to call 911 after an encounter where you have to draw your gun.........especially if shots were fired. I know a guy locally that is a prospector out in the desert. He had to draw his gun and shoot a couple of shots to warn off a guy that was actually shooting at him. He didn't think much of it, but the other guy ran to a phone and made a call. It cost the good guy a night in jail and about $6,000 to get the charges dropped. ............. Always call first!!!!!! ...........

I was on my way to my church for a function one morning,The church is only a block or two from my home so I was on foot.

I walked across a bridge and I heard something in the weeds underneath, turned around and looked and a homeless guy that lives in my neighborhood is running up the bank behind me.

Like I said the guy is known in the neighborhood and he's nuts so I kept an eye on him and kept moving away but I wasn't too concerned. So long story short about a half a block away he's catching up to me and I turn to look at him and he has a knife in his hand.

At this point he still hasn't even acknowledged my presence but because he is coming towards me with a weapon in his hand I felt justified in taking at a minimum a more defensive posture so I backed up behind a transformer box, cleared my cover garment, put my hand on my gun but didn't draw and asked him "Is everything OK?" The guy looked at me and mumbled something about donuts and walked away.

At this point he's ahead of me and moving away (I.E. No longer a threat) and all I have to do is change direction. At this point I take my hand off my gun and take a 90 degree turn away from the guy and walk away. Last I saw he was washing his face in the window washer fluid at a gas station.

I had to go to the ATM at night to get some money for a minor emergency. It was winter and rainy. I decided to just put on an owb holster with a full size 1911 under my jacket. While I was in the middle of my transaction 3 teenagers got behind me and started talking about how they could use some money and how much fun it would be to rob somebody. They were about 4 feet behind me. I never felt they were a real threat but they kept up the talk. I swept my jacket back to show my pistol (open carry is legal in WA) and things got real quite. I looked back and they were about 5 feet further back. When I was done and walked back to my car they parted like the Red Sea.:D

I don't think they would have done anything but I felt better knowing I had it.

BRANDISHING

It got me out of a road range jam similar to the OP, BUT could have easily gotten me into a legal jam. Thankfully it was before everyone had cell phones & the statute of limitations is up. I think post 13 was lucky, in that the group did not attack when he flashed it. IMO the first time anyone should see your ccw is when it is in your hand and you are fully prepared to use it. It is not some magic wand to waive at people to get them to do as you say, some may not do as you ask/order, and just attack. Glad it worked out OK for me & you 13.

Have You Had To Use Your Carry Gun?

Because I live in New jersey not one my carry guns has not been used.

Translation, I do not have any unused carry guns because, living in New Jersey, I do not have any carry guns. Nothing from nothing is still nothing.

Like Bushmaster1313, I too live in NJ where we don't have the legal right to self defense. That said, I do have a Utah non-resident CFP for when I am traveling out of state and will exercise it where honored. Fortunately, I have not had the need to utilize my sidearm, and hope I will never have to. But between the increase in road rage and the hazards of our pourous borders, I fear that may not be possible!

1976 deer hunting shot a 6pt when I got to the deer I leaned my rifle against a small tree. I prepared to field drees the deer I heard is this the gun you used? 2 guys standing there 1 with my rifle in his hands. I asked him to put it down he said whrn I am done looking at it. When he looked back my Mod 19 was pointing at him, no more arguement.

The most recent time, a robbery was averted just before he produced his pistol when he realized I was prepared to do the same. Being aware of what was about to happen had me alerted.

Scary. Reminds me of Deliverance. "You shore got a pretty gun".

A few years ago my wife had to go to the emergency room in an ambulance at 3 AM. I followed in my car but had to park a distance away and started to walk to the entrance. I'm handicapped, walk with a cane and although big, look like an easy target b/c I'm a senior citizen. I saw someone from my left in the dark approaching quickly, asking me for a smoke. I pulled my 442 from my pocket and put it behind my leg just in case, and told him I could not help him in a very stern voice. He must have seen I had something and changed directions. When I got inside I reported the incident to the on duty officer there.

Drew gun

Only once to dispatch a rabid skunk when on a hike with wifey:) Ended up to be a very smelly situation:D:D
