Anyone that has had badgers work in theur hayfield will know how to get him loose, a .22 rifle. Those varmints rival a bulldozer for damage. I was mowing a terrace once, when my tractor fell into a badger den. It bottomed out on the underbelly. I have seen hay left in the windrow overnight totally scattered.
Once, I had a guy plowing one of my fields and he treed a badger in a low tree. He told me he thought he would just take the hammer off the tractor and kill the badger, beings it wasn't to high in the tree. He said that he walked up to the tree, looked at the badger, looked at the hammer, then crawled back on the tractor and let the badger live.
I lived and farmed that place for 11 years, there were badgers there when I started and when I left. Mean little devils.
