Right now the show on TV I’m really taking a disliking to is Hawaii Five-0. Jack Lord should be turning in his grave.
Thought it was going to be a pretty decent remake when it started, even a ghost appearance of Jack Lord and this McGarrett having a Merc Marauder like in the original series. It was kind of modeling the original but they really started digging stories out of the dung heap. Way too much far fetched stuff going on on that little island of Oahu  Cut me a break!
This show really went to the dogs when Grace Parks and Daniel Kim left the show, for more money? I believe their characters played better roles then the stars! The characters and actors they are adding now, they don’t need and their characters they play stink. It seems like McGarrett hands out 5-0 badges like M&Ms in a candy dish.
McGarrett and Danny, now that a whole other story? They truely are not like the original characters and in fact I’m Almost starting to believe that they are a gay couple!
Time for CBS to pull the plug on this loser!
And that my friends is my TV rant of the day!

I watched only one episode-
a-long-time-ago-in-a-galaxy-far-far-away-27040287.png

My wife watches it once in a while and yells at the TV telling James Caan’s son to shut the bleep up. In fact TV shows are crammed with useless banter. Like normal guy Mark Harmon having to stand there while that pigtailed girl babbles on endlessly until she eventually gets to her point.

I’m really starting to lose it for NCIS to. Seems they are losing major cast and the ones they are replacing them with are just blah characters to fill the void.
C’mon Fez from the 70’s Show I didn’t even know he still existed now he’s on NCIS?

You guys still watch TV??

Well, I still have one, and have Dish, and Netflix, and Amazon Prime too, but I have just about given up on watching a lot of stuff. With some of those streaming services, I can watch some of my favorite shows from way back, and do so without commercials, and best, can often watch whole seasons one after another, and do so when I feel like it.

Which isn't as often as I used to. I much prefer to read, actually I always did like to spend more time reading than watching the tube.

But I must admit that these new fangled hi def, big screen TVs are amazing, I'm not a big football fan, but when I watch West Virginia getting clobbered by one of those Texas or Oklahoma teams (what the heck are we doing out there?), it's sure amazing the detail that you can see on these new sets.

Anyway, I've never even watched the new "Five- 0".

Best Regards, Les

If you don't have a TV, what do you watch all those old shoes on?

In the original, I liked how Jack Lord/McGarett ran all over Oahu, under the equatorial sun, chasing bad guys or getting lunch — he aways ran — wearing his suit and tie with the jacket buttoned up.

One tough cookie!:)

Have not seen the remake and don’t intend to. (Bah hambug!)

One thing I don't miss from the original show is the anti-gun rants that Jack Lord worked into the show. He was a typical Hollywood left winger who used the show to advance his personal political agenda.

This is true! Plus he didn't like the military.
After having to play second fiddle to Sean Connery, 007 in Dr. No he was down......

Well, my GF does watch TV a lot. And Netflix is $9.99 a month (although it's going up), I mostly have the Prime for the free shipping, but they have thousands of movies and TV shows on...I think it's $100.00 per year, so not that much per month. And GF like the Dish for the local channel news and weather, plus she has some favorite stuff she watches...don't get cable out in the boonies.

Gary... I do have a TV, I just don't watch it much, and when I do, I enjoy older shows. Plus, I was just kidding around a little....(But not all that much)!!

Best Regards, Les

I have Prime and watch a lot of shows on that. I also have a profile on a relatives Netflix, and watch some shows on that.

On cable, as I've said in other threads, I have TCM and love some of the old movies.

The current Hawaii Five-Oh is on it's downward spiral and will probably
be cancelled at year end.

Likeable cast members have left, the plots are beyond believable and are to the point of becoming cartoonish.

I noticed that about some shows....

My wife watches it once in a while and yells at the TV telling James Caan’s son to shut the bleep up. In fact TV shows are crammed with useless banter. Like normal guy Mark Harmon having to stand there while that pigtailed girl babbles on endlessly until she eventually gets to her point.

I noticed that about some shows for younger people. They never tell anything or carry on a conversation, but EVERYBODY says nothing but witty remarks and great comebacks to the point that it is just blather.:(

Anyway, sorry the show isn't up to scratch. It was a great show in its day and it had the one of the most kick butt theme openings in TV land. That always riveted me to where I would be into the show before I realized what was going on.

The new one was good at first, now it's sort of "out there". Crazy plots and weird characters.

I was always hoping for a Magnum PI tie in that never came.

Magnum was a spin off of the original 5-0, but the new 5-0 treats Magnum PI as fiction. They could have had some great story lines with Rick, but he barely was in one episode. And he was a different character. But he still had his French cross ring.

They showed TC'S helicopter a couple of times in the back ground. Then completely killed the idea during a helicopter ride making jokes about being on Magnum PI.

Even without Tom Selleck, they could have had some fun with a better Magnum PI tie in. Even better if they could have had Tom back for a cameo.

They had a lot of possibilities but dropped the ball.
I can’t believe they bought that bozo Dog the Bounty Hunter on the show? What a loser. Another loser no need character was the leftover guy from Lost? Now with the leaving of Kim and Parks we have two more newbies that really don’t fit?
They started out with a good cast and did follow characters of the original to a certain degree but they have really dropped the ball!
One thing that Jack Lord stressed was the hiring of native Hawaiians to be on the show. And that one of the reasons I liked the characters of Parks and Kim.
Time for CBS to dump it!
