Big part of the front sight looking funny is the front of it is sloping back a bit.
Then the point on the top does not help.
Hondo's picture shows what is possible with the right tools and a steady hand. Excellent job of making everything match up. No doubt a shortened barrel job.
One of my original questions for the op was is there a slot for the square bottom elevation stud? It is difficult to find the right tool to mill it in with. I made mine by modifying a 1/8" 2 flute end mill. Carefully grinding away the flutes from 1/16" above the face, just leaving a couple little fly cutters on the bottom of each. First mill in the center of the slot then go in with special cutter and make just the under cuts with it. Some guys go the J frame route and re arch the spring so the body is sprung down and Then put a screw in the elevation nut and make it work like a J frame. But, once you figure out the cutter the K,L,N frame sight is better on the bigger guns
