He took it with a .38

Good dog! Good dog!
I hope that schnauzer gets some of that bacon.
That hog probably weighed 100x what that dog weighed!

Funny how a revitalized thread about the 380 being inadequate for self defense against humans is running strong, but would those same folks say a 38 couldn't do a 820 hog?

All comes down to shot placement......... and this guy did great

Crazy to have a monster like that come up to your porch. That schnauzer is a good guard dog.

I went on his Facebook page and there is a short video of the aftermath of the shoot, including the .38 used. I'm terrible at IDing but it looks like a blued S&W service revolver like cops used to carry.

Wade Seago - Wade Seago posted a video to his Timeline.

This Porker Smells Fishy

Hmm, okay, let me start off by saying I'm very skeptical about just how "wild" this Hog actually was. They just don't get that big in the "wild" folks. At that kind of weight they can barely walk. They do get huge inside high-fence, private hunting operations where they're fed to get huge, then turned loose for high dollars from paying hunters.

First, a Hog that big wandering around unnoticed for a few years by hunters, campers, hikers, fishermen, backpackers, not to mention Game & Fish, is highly unlikely.

Second, there's been dozens of accounts of guys capturing a wild hog, penning it up out of sight, overfeeding it for a couple years, then turning it loose so they could shoot a huge "wild hog".

And how convenient for this giant swine to show up in this guy's front yard. And how interesting that he owns his own Taxidermy business, talk about free advertising, free marketing, free promotion. Sure beats the Yellow Pages. And who gave the official weight as 820 pounds? He did. Hmm, the plot thickens.

So, for me, it's an "Enquirer" type story for now, on the same page next to "The Grays Abducted My Grandma", and "Elvis Spotted Living Among Bigfoot Clan". :D

P.S. Well placed shots can stop anything, so the 38 Special part I believe. :D

I was thinking the same things, the hog face is not long and boxy looking like wild hogs, hair texture is off too. Not sure about the weight either. Most big wild hogs seem to be around 400lbs from what I have seen (not in person though, Idaho doesn't have wild pigs).
I wonder if the story will follow up when a farmer finally comes forward looking for his lost pig.

A very large hog for sure. More work than I would want to do to clean up the after the shooting mess!
