Well, whitetail hunting season is almost here. I want to try using my .460 this year. I have been using standard muffs while shooting. Now I'll need something that will allow me to hear the game coming while still providing hearing protection. Could you folks give me some suggestions for products that won't break the bank?

I'm also looking at holosights for the pistol. I'll need something that will stand up to the recoil. From what I understand, Bushnell's Holosight is made by EOTech but is just missing the metal guard. Is this correct? Will a holosight stand up to the pounding?

Thanks for any help!

Re: Hearing protection-

I use the Howard Leight "Impact Sport" electronic earmuffs at the range, with a set of foam earplugs underneath. When I turn on the earmuffs, I can hear everything, and the foam plugs still attenuate the loud AR noise in the next lane.

The earmuffs were about $70 at a gun show.

Sherm: I can't say enough good things about the electronic hearing protection muffs from Dillon Precision. They magnify low volume (e.g. talking & game movement), but cut out the higher decibels of gun shots. Yes, they are $135, but they're so efficient, they're well worth the money.
Good Luck!
