Helix Gunsmithing in Arnold, MO

I have a friend that wants to have his model 17 hard chromed. He has researched a couple of businesses, and is now leaning toward having Helix do the work.

Does anyone have any experience, or knowledge of the quality of work done there?

If they are good, I have an old gun I have considered having hard chromed, and another with a couple of things I would I would like to do to it.

I know that Top Gun, the indoor shooting range and gun store they are affiliated with, have a good reputation in the St. Louis area. I don't know anything specific about their work, but I suspect I would have heard if they were substandard . . .

Well, I've lived in Arnold for almost 30 years and I've never heard of them. I also think highly of Joe and the gang at Top Gun, but Helix is a new one.

And it turns out that Helix Gunsmithing is that young fellow working out of Top Gun. Still don't know anything about him, but if the shop would recommend him I'd probably use him.

I have heard nothing about his finish work. His name is Eric. Fixed a shotgun for me for a reasonable price. That's all I know.

I've had him do several mechanical type firearm repairs and they have been fine, but I don't know anything about his re/finishing.

Just to piggy back, any thoughts on him doing action work? I have a couple pre war guns that may need some attention.
