New guy here but not new to shooting.
I have been acquiring a few S&W's as of lately and they have all been great I have 4 revolvers, 2 from the performance center.
I think I really like everything I have seen come out of there.
I have a .40 M&P and a .40c M&P. Really like those.
But what really brought me here is a 4.25 M&P 9 Pro Series I recently bought. I planned on using this for sport and not SD.
But this one threw me for a loop though. I shoot quite a bit of handgun and am an ok shot but I just could not get this on to shoot to my satisfaction.
It was printing low and left large groups at 25 yds. I drifted the rear sight and it then printed low and right.
I put an Apex Comp Trigger in it and reduced pull to just over 3 lbs but left everything else alone. Still shot low.
I was in the process of looking for adjustable sights when I signed up hear and did some reading.
Over and over I found this to be blamed on the shooting technique and not the sights or gun, so probably first time in my life I accepted advice and held of on ordering replacement sights.
Finally I tried the larger back strap on it. I had the medium installed and took it back to the range today.
Repositioned my grip and got back to the basics and to my surprised everything came up where I wanted it.
I have only been shooting this gun at 25 yards offhand and it sure felt good to be hitting POA today. I was still only getting probably 4" groups offhand but that I am sure is me. Plus I forgot my glasses
All in all I for the first time since I bought I felt good about the gun.
I have tried 5 different loads I had laying around and it seemed to like the lead 125 gr ball over 3.7 Titegroup the best.
I plan on reworking that load for this gun next.
So thanks for saving me from buying sights or sending it back to S&W
