The Welcome mat is always out for Texans! I will be riding my motorcycle from near Portland OR down to the Big Bend area in the middle of May. I plan to spend a couple of days in search of a decent sized Western Diamond back or maybe three. I will be looking for a pretty "snaky" area down there. And, crazy as it may sound, I've been doing this for quite a few years. I plan on carrying either a 3" Mod. 36 Chief's Special, or a 5" Mod 10. I will be feeding it Speer Snake loads with #9 shot, wearing snake gators, carrying a 5' long telescoping hiking pole, snake bite kit, etc. I will "pattern" each revolver at my range down in our woods prior to deciding which gun to carry. If you are aware of any ranchers anywhere from the Big Bend area and over toward Houston, who would allow me to hunt on their land, I would really appreciate an introduction. My cell is 503/730-1282. I am a 63 year-old very experienced and considerate hunter, and I've hunted snakes in Idaho and Oregon since I was 14.
