doubt you'll have to do any work with the ladder covers. i have black ones on my green gun and they fit fine. i cut them to different lenghts just to cover different areas. i also tried utg rubber covers and magpul xtm and had no issues with either.

i use breakfree clp, does everything all in one. i also have a boresnake to run through with some clp on the brushes a couple times then just wipe down the bolt with clp. how involved and often you clean is up to each person but thats my process.

as for ammo, make sure you try some different ammo with your gun before buying in bulk because each gun is different.

Well there are many different opinions on cleaning and supplies, I used CLP in the Corps and it worked, ( I still got a bottle from when I was in, mil-l-63460 s-758 lol)

now I use good old hoppes number 9 solvent and rem oil, its easier quicker and doesnt damage anything. some guys use the bore snake and it looks like a good thing but I stick with the winchester one piece rod and brushes and a light coat of oil in the barrel every couple of visits to the range, the copper plated rounds dont foul the barrel near as bad as pure lead rounds do.and a light spray of oil on the BCG and trigger assembly takes care of her.

Winchester M-22 works just fine.

The difference between 36 grain and 40 grain bullets is pretty much insignificant for the overwhelming majority of .22 LR shooting.

Federal velocities:

40 grain - 1,240 fps
38 grain - 1,260 fps
36 grain - 1,260 fps

A difference of 20 fps is still inconsequential. A difference of 200 fps, maybe; 20 fps, not at all.

Well today at work I bought a big red box of ferderal 550 rounds, and a 100pack of CCI mini mag 22 LR HP 1260fps 36 grain...hopefully I bought the right one here since I cannot return them. Didnt have a big selection of mini mags
