I just bought a M&P 40 L which i did not know existed, it is not in the S&W catalog. I seen that there is a M&P PRO but my gun came from the factory with Trijicon night sights and came with 3 15 round mags and does not say pro but it has a 5 inch barrel as well. I even called S&W they said they make short runs but have no parts lists or anything on the gun and they cant tell me how many were made. I really just wanted to know if there is anyway I could find out if it was made for a police department or something. Any one that might know something I would appreciate it!

Don't take any chances pack it up and send it to me right away. LOL

It is a Leo version, If it was for a spicific department it would have a logo laser engraved infront of the rear sight.

LOL I better not send it to you yet I am kind of in love with it LOL
There are no other markings on it, the serial #DVRXXXX I guess I may never know what it really is. And here is another kicker it was cheaper then the 40 Pro and mine came with 3 mags instead of 2 and the night sights!!! So i aint complaining..

It is the same handgun as the 5 inch M&P Pro 40, without the performance sear and fiber optic sights. I saw the 40L advertised on Gallery of Guns, but never saw one available. Then it disappeared. Order the same parts as the 40 M&P Pro. :) It may be that they exist only as a LEO version. Have fun shooting it. I sure do with my Pro 40. :D

My neighbor bought a M&P9 with a 5" barrel. It is not the Pro either. He paid approx. $100 less for his gun than I did for my M&P40 pro series. His problem was that he liked my trigger action better than his & went out and spent $150 on a trigger job. (He doesn't like to do his own smithing). BUT I have found out that the high vis sights that came on my gun are terrible at the in-door range we use since no light is directed towards the firing line. It's all down range. I guess I'll be spending $100 on sights like the ones he got on his gun (& your gun in the you-tube video you made). It's always something. It's like marrying that beautiful cheerleader only to find out she hates sex.

Are there any numbers on the front sight? Like .180" or something like that.

No they are just normal Trijicon sights. I have kind of gave up wondering what it is because i went out and shot it and LOVED it,, and thats the most important thing!! Thanks :D
