Help - Changing K frame rear sight blade and...

I have been unable to re-insert the new windage screw into the sight body - I just can't get the plunger/spring to depress sufficiently so the whole unit can pop into sight body.

I've also tried the alternative method - i.e. depressing plunger/spring with thumbnail so it is under the sight blade and then putting the whole unit into the sight body.

Any tips or tricks greatly appreciated. I really don't want to shuffle shame-faced into the gunsmiths shop with all the bits in a plastic bag for him to fix...

What I have done is to screw the screw in as far as possible without the spring/plunger in it. Then insert the spring/plunger and hold down while making enough of a turn to get it inside the sight body. I've changed K frame and X frame both and the only problem I ran into was the little spring & plunger flying off to parts unknown when removing. I put it in a large plastic bag now to keep control of.
