I went to my local CA gun shop, and I was told that S&W has been slow to produce firearms this year. And that there are none of this model to be found. Does this sound right? I already gave up on my hope of a 1911E. I'm going to be sick if this gun is off the market too. Any help would be great.

S&W is NOT slow in producing their 1911. The demand for such a great gun that keeping up with demand is difficult.
The guns are out there but you have to search for them or else order one. I got my first one in less than three weeks. It took about three months to get another.
It is a good gun and well worth the wait.

I've had a 108482 on order since late October but have been notified I should be receiving it soon.

I bought a used 108282 about a month ago. Since buying my 1911 i frequently visit gunbroker to see if i paid to much lol. Just keep watching gunbroker they do show up. I love my smith, awsome trigger pull dont know the weight but it seems light. Good luck
