Help from the dog lovers?

Something I've seen done before is to ask the local radio station to pass the story to their listeners. Most times they'll help out, it gives them a good rep. Good luck!

JcMack,
Can we see pics of the dog pack?

I found out yesterday the little dog I was interested in (maybe) won't be adopted out until his leg is fully healed. I figure it costs me at least $50 a month to manage heath an upkeep for my 2 little twerps. That's part of the problem with trying to place dogs anymore. $50 net is $65 after taxes, who can afford that while raising a family? I can adjust my own standard of living to compensate for them.

I found a couple of dogs running loose in my neighborhood Sunday afternoon. I would love to get them back to their owner. I have put ads on craigslist and the local paper's online edition, notified the local lab rescue, and put signs in the neighborhood. So far, no luck. I've had a couple of calls, but they were looking for a spaniel and a beagle. These aren't the dogs you are looking for. ;) I wish they were.

So, my questions:

Need positive breed IDs. Yellow lab and a Yorkie?
The lab has green mucus covering (nearly) both eyes. She won't be still long enough for me to wipe it away. Is this a problem, or communicable to other dogs, cats, or humans?
Any other ideas for advertising them?
What do I do if no one comes for them? I can't keep them. I don't have the time they need, plus I travel. My wife and daughter wouldn't give them the proper attention they deserve when I'm gone. Should I call the lab rescue and the yorkie rescue and split them up? I don't want to send them to the pound.

Here they are. I call them Mutt and Jeff. Jeff is the little guy. Mutt is a girl.

Did you have the vet check for microchips?

Good thing I read thru the thread instead of just responding to the post title --- I thought you were looking for recipes, and was about to pass along several favorites from my Asian friends, but that apparently is not what you were looking for.

Good luck with your mission...!

Our local animal shelter has a facebook page the public can post lost and found animals on. A dog (no tags) that wandered away from home was sleeping on our porch last month, and we posted his picture on the shelter's facebook page. The owners saw our post on the animal shelter's web page and picked up their dog.
