I've had a 686-6 that I picked up in a trade a while back. I liked the revolver, it was in great condition, and I wasn't too aware of the variations in 686 offerings at the time. Assumed it was a run of the mill 686+.

Curious if anyone can help me figure out what exactly it is (special run??). I don't really want to pay S&W $100 to tell me the pedigree of this revolver.

The S/N begins with CLV and is Product 150181. It has a 5" barrel and an unfluted cylinder. The casing envelope says it was collected on 1-29-09, so I'm assuming it was produced in that time period.

I am pretty sure it is not a TALO 3-5-7 (pictured grips are Altamont's and were included in sale); the product number doesn't match their literature and I assume it wouldn't have come in the same S&W blue case.

Thanks for any insight.
