My 686-6 stopped rotating the cylinder. So armed with a good set of screwdrivers and YouTube, I opened it up with the intent to take a look and see if I could find the issue. After tapping the side plate open, the piece attached in the picture below fell out. I put everything together again so that I didn't lose anything else and started trying to identify what came out. I couldn't find an answer.
On the plus side, the cylinder now rotates properly, so I do think that I found the issue, but without knowing what the missing piece is, I'm hesitant to start using the revolver again.
What is this mysterious part?
