I have been thinking on letting one of my 1917's go, to fund another purchase. It is a November 1918 dated gun. It has all of the WWI US appropriate marking. It also has the not as common British WWII lend lease markings (Not made in Britain stamp, extra proofs on cylinder flutes and barrel).

The finish is original, and in pretty good shape considering. It has wear on the top strap and the end of the muzzle. The bore is near mint. Still in original 45acp. All serial numbers match except for the stocks, which are old military replacements. My guess from either before being sent to the UK or on its return.

Prices on 1917's are kind of all over, and I know this version is not as common. Any ideas on a fair starting price?

Can you post more/close-up photos? It is remarkably shiny for a service revolver that may have made two round trips from the USA to Europe over 20-25 years.

I don't believe that the extra stamps have anything to do with lend lease. They are stamps that were required by law to be placed on any gun prior to commercial sale in England.

Sorry about the phrasing. The 1917's were lend lease in 1940, the stamps were put on for resale into the commercial market.
