Do you really want to be the sort of man who has a nickel revolver? Are you going to put pearl grips on it, too?
The blue M-27 is more respectable, has a reasonable barrel length instead of that Long Tom barrel on the .44, and .357 ammo is cheaper, with .38 ammo for most shooting and Magnum loads, as needed. And I'm a sucker for that nice checkering atop the M-27.
Finally, the M-27 kicks less. Unless you hunt deer with a handgun or live in bear country, you don't need a .44 Magnum. But a .357 is far more versatile for more people, and is a fine defense or small game gun. It'll take game like smaller deer and javelina, too. And it'll kill grouse easily with .38 ammo, on sitting shots where legal, and not ruin as much meat as will a .44. It's plenty for raccoons and coyotes, even for cougar. The .357 with the right ammo is probably the most effective handgun cartridge on humans, too.
Why do you even HAVE an 8.3 inch nickel .44 Magnum?!
Can't decide what to do. I have a beautiful mod 29-3 nickle,8 3/8 barrel 1985. Thinking about a trade for a mod 27-4 blue, 6 barrel 1989 just as beautiful .Give me some thoughts please.???
So weird to hear a fellow Texan say “get that smaller one...”
And Texas Star, everyone needs a big bore something! I certainly would choose the 44 for javelina over 357.
Well I am going to keep the 29. Yes Texas Star I'm also secure enough to wear pink! Have a couple 357 mod 19-3 4 inch 686-6 6 inch. Would like a 27-2 and yes the 29-2 6 inch. They will come my way someday. but I still work for a living! Currently own 20 wheel guns 16 smiths 4 colts, making my Queen crazy!
Because its a freakin 8” 44mag.
