New in box from local gun shop they installed a NY safe act complient rear stock the bolt carrier group will not lock open nor will the safety selector switch move period. someone suggested it is a missing spring from where the pistol grip was they also said the buffer tube was too short. any ideas I have a range reserved in 2 days I need to get this fixed and safe to fire

Take it back to the LGS. They "broke" it.

Is the safety in the fire or safe position? If it's on fire and the hammer is down, you can't put any AR on safe.
The bolt won't lock back with an empty mag or if you press the little part on the bolt catch/release?

Take it apart and look at it. Part of owning it is knowing how to do some basic maintenance.

It was stuck in Safe mode I did take it completely appart and everything was fine. I took it back to the LGS and when they pulled the NY safe Act complient stock they discovered the safety detent spring was bent and pinched.

That detent spring being ruined is a terribly easy thing to bring about, and if it is then forced into position to assemble the hand grip it will render the safety quadrant immovable.
Other than being intimately aware of the difficulty of assembly the rifle's grip without inadvertantly folding the spring in question, and having a spare or two of that part, you will experience this problem again.
Just part of learning the intimacies of the platform.
The gun shop that did your work should have spares on hand (it is after all, a VERY common part among the AR models group!), and if they don't I'd be wondering about whether they are up to the task of more difficult procedures on this particular model of firearm.
The gun should have been tested for function and all safety aspect before being returned to you.

New to M&P AR 10

I'm new to this newly aquire system, but I to have noticed that a hammer down doesn't allow a safe setting until a re- engagement of the mechanism. But that inability to lock back with an empty mag was it something I have noticed yet. Have you performed any dry fire to see if this remedies any the Hang-Ups you are experiencing?
Good luck

Simple Fix

SORRY- Disregard- misread the problem!

Having a similar problem. Hammer is down, selector in FIRE position, trigger dosesn't reset and can't fire. Am able to lock bcg back, and able to fully chamber a round when releasing the bcg. Happened at the range yesterday while was working on sighting in the rifle. Appreciate all constructive remarks. Not afraid to take it to my lsg if I need to for a fix as I'm not able to take it apart aside from basic cleaning and maintenance.

Does your trigger reset if you manually push it forward? If so I would check the little spring under the disconnect. My buddy had that happen and it was because that spring was installed upside down. Flipped it and the trigger reset like normal.

I tried and the trigger immovable. Called S&W customer service and they opened a warranty RMA on it. So now to box it up and send it to them.

If you shot a REAL M&P (round gun) as opposed to a new, imitation M&P (square gun) this would not be an issue.

How many deer have you taken with your round gun? Don’t question other people’s choices when you know nothing else about them except that they’re having a problem. Be a better person and try to help, not troll.
